What travelers are saying
- Catherine WLaunceston, Australia4 contributionsLisbon was a delightful surprise...we did the city area by tuk-tuk, which was fantastic as many of the streets in the Alfama district are extremely steep and we wouldn't have walked them! Thoroughly recommend the Portuguese Tart cooking lesson, by Natelier! A day trip to Cascais is also worth it. All in all Lisbon was so much more than I expectedWritten October 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - woz91W-wa148 contributionsThe place is partially accessible to people in wheelchairs. To get in, it's best to contact someone from the staff. After showing our disabled person's ID, we got into the monastery free of charge (a person in a wheelchair and a guardian). A monastery full of charm. Wonderful stonework. There is a toilet in the monastery for people in wheelchairs (it was unavailable due to a breakdown).Written October 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The best restaurant in Lisbon, the owner is an absolutely excellent man, go there and you will be really satisfied, it's not exactly cheap, but the experience and feeling is unique. We can only recommend, you will enjoy it and you will not regret it.

Suggest arriving earlier or later in the day to avoid the lines.Written September 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Matthew R54 contributionsThis was a beautiful place with gorgeous views of Portugal. The main thing here is getting pictures from the panoramic vistas. We climbed the castle stairs to the top, but there is not much to see at the actual building. We did this in about 45 minutes while we were waiting to check into our hotel. A great 45 min - 1 hour experience. The lines were very long. Apparently you can buy tickets online and skip the queue. We didn’t figure that out, so we ended up waiting 20 min in line or so.Written October 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Robin W. FoodCroatia403 contributionsPraça do Comércio is the largest square in Lisbon, and it’s filled with tourists buzzing around like headless chickens, probably searching for remnants of the royal palace that once stood here until 1755. The palace was completely destroyed by the earthquake and the tsunami that followed. There’s nothing in the square that would make it a quality public space, so the tourists, much to the surprise of the locals, have decided that the main attraction is the steps leading down to the Tagus River. The people of Lisbon sometimes jokingly say that the tourists are "waiting for a ferry that never arrives". I would be more sarcastic and say they’re "waiting for an earthquake that will return Lisbon to the Lisboetas."Written October 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sing_soloToronto, Canada72 contributionsBeautiful view of the city! We enjoyed it very much. We walked there but I believe there is a lift as well. Might be a little chilly in the evening.Written August 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- RijardsLondon, UK1,000 contributionsLisbon is a perfect destination for Christmas. Not only for its mild climate, but also for its impressive Christmas markets and attractions at this time of year.
While every season is a good time to see all of Lisbon’s attractions and enjoy its romantic and decadent atmosphere, the Portuguese capital really comes into its own during the Christmas holidays. Just strolling aimlessly through its streets, the traveler will be captivated by the lighting.Written September 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You can go up top I guess but it was several euros and didn’t seem worth it. Many food stalls nearby where you can sit and enjoy food and drink. Recommend stopping at a wine stall - where they tell you about the wine and even offer to take your picture.Written October 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - doppelganger_etThessaloniki, Greece1,216 contributionsOne of the first Jesuit churches in the world, with a stunning interior. Lavish decorations of gilded carvings, marble, tiles, gold, paintings and artifacts. The painting of the ceiling is really impressive.Written October 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Floozy28Hockley, UK104 contributionsHave visited similar places around the globe, as with them lack of seating is a main issue.
Most of the dishes are full meals rather than snacks, so you need somewhere to sit.
We eventually found a lovely fish restaurant, and had amazing food.Written October 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Robin W. FoodCroatia403 contributionsParque das Nações is a modern district, developed through the urbanization of a former industrial area. Of all the architectural, urban, and sculptural achievements, I was particularly impressed by the Pavilion of Portugal, a work by the Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza Vieira. However, I was even more struck by three unnamed workers ‘clinging’ high above to the rooftop of a skyscraper, whose contrast with their surroundings prompts reflection on social stratification. Who are they and where do they come from?Written October 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Connor MGlasgow, UK233 contributionsWhat can I say? It beats any football experience I've had in Scotland/England. Incredible atmosphere from start to finish. The pyrotechnics, the fire, the eagle swooping down onto the logo, and the football which was fun and exciting to watch. I had such a fantastic time. A true party atmosphere. Would happily come back.Written September 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- doppelganger_etThessaloniki, Greece1,216 contributionsYou cannot miss the arch at the end of Rua Augusta, facing Praça do Comércio. Ticket is included in the Lisbon Card - which I highly recommend.
