He contacted us the day before and asked what our particular interests were and then planned the day around our answers. His being a local who grew up and still lives in Sintra enhanced his sharing of details about the sites we saw - Cascais, Quinta Regalaria and Pena Palace. He was well regarded by the people working at these sites, which made it easy for us to get past long lines and to even see sites not on our itinerary and eat at the best spots. Inside the palace he pointed out small details other guides didn’t know. A great day! Daniel was our tour guide and he took us to all the best spots in Lisbon and gave great insights into the history and background of each spot. We went to Sintra where Mhedi gave us walking tour of the town and its history. We saw artists on the street and stopped to listen to some tantilizing music. I was really taken by the hidden and obvious monks doors leading to the palace, and eventually we made our way there. I also explored around the grounds and the forest, finding more hidden doors. Enchamting! After the palace we went to Cascais and had a wonderful exploration of this beautiful town. Gorgeous views and photo opportunities. Each was beautiful and amazing in their own way, and the guide provided us with time to take it all in -- without rushing here, there, and everywhere. Each city has great views and enough photo opportunities to make you very happy. And being with a small-group tour adds to the enjoyment of the day so that you're not lost among the crowd and just another number. Miguel was our main guide Ruth took the other half of the group, both were lovely and interesting.
You will see many amazing views and get a interesting and informative explanation of the history of the palaces and the region.
Be prepared for lots of walking and a busy day.

We didn’t book online so went to Marque de Pombal in the morning and the staff from Grayline was most helpful and proactive.
We enjoyed the trip to Belém and spent the afternoon on the Orient line. Drivers are helpful and the audio was working on all the 4 buses we took.
The only downside is the buses are not air- conditioned but it was not unbearable. The description said 9am but they reached out the night before that it would be 9:45. The pick up was on time and we shared the car with another couple. The driver was great (Pedro). He was more than a driver, he was an expert. Pedro made jokes and helped us have such a nice ride to our first spot in Setabul. We got to our stop and met our tour guide (Andy) at the market. Hands down coolest market ever! Went to a lovely winery and had lunch at a local restaurant and then went to a tile factory and another winery. Everything was absolutely delicious with a view! We finished the night with dinner at a restaurant recommended by Pedro and invited him to join us.
