An impressive once-private house and a free tour. Worth a visit to glimpse some of the past of Figueira and Portugal in general in the 18th and 19th Century.

Despite being quite different from what it used to be in the distant past (throughout my childhood) because of the number of sports courts that have been built on it, as well as the wooden pathways, to name just a few, it is still a huge stretch of sand, which at least allows people not to be forced to be lying in fairly limited spaces when going to the beach. It is still foggy in the morning and windy. One should be careful when entering the water because of its currents, as well as the fact that the water is almost always very cold.

The whole coastline of Buarcos up to the Mondego Cape is worth visiting and stopping at. One has got a fairly wide choice of sandy beaches and rocky ones.

Interesting place to visit. Video was interesting although too long and boring for young children. We bought a souvenir salt basket... who would have thought that there is liquid salt available? We then went to put our feet in the salty water. There was a lady also selling some face/body products, which if sufficient members of staff on site, you might get a feet rub.

The once touched by the sea fort of Santa Catarina, which now stands in the city has been embelished by the surrounding atmosphere which includes a basin with a statue and grass area.

Particularly well located along the coastline, next to the public garden, this market has aquired a new face since it has been reorganized to comprise shops along its side galeries. Even Art (in the form of tiles placed on both sides of the main entrance and an artistic fish hanging on the fish stalls'area) marks the difference.

The Mondego river mouth is not too different from other river mouths, what seems to make it unique is the little former fishing boat harbour now turned into yacht and slightly bogger boats' harbour.

This beach, which pertains to a whole beautiful coastline, is a haven for surfers and has a beauty of its own, with its clean sand and fearful waves and currents. One should be aware, though particularly if one is not a good swimmer.

Best view of Figueira da Foz and the sea around. Very easy to get there, close to Figueira da Foz, a nice place for pictures.

If you would like to have a lonely beach at the Atlantic coast with some basic amenities, take this one. It is definitely worth driving the way down to this place, it is simply perfect, super waves, only a few people, but still some technical infrastructure. Can not be better!

In Portugal they do not kill the bulls. Anyone stating otherwise didn't go in or they write for the NY Times.

I found this museum to be very interesting. They have many beautiful things. What I liked the most was the old furniture, the carriage, and jewelry. We took our 3 y/o and 5 y/o with us, which was not a good idea - but we didn’t have another option. I am sure that if I would had time to check this museum more peacefully, I would have loved many more things about it.
There is a lower level that was close to the public. This was unfortunate because I was able to sneak a little and they had very old bicycles and motorcycles! I would have loved to see them calmly.
