What travelers are saying
- Abraham S2 contributionsA very beautiful and historic city. I enjoyed the evening scenery with lights more than the day scenery. There is a lot to see and enjoy here.Written January 24, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- DarlaBournemouth, UK51 contributionsWe came to the Bruges Christmas Market with Darla on Christmas Eve to celebrate the festive month and it was lovely. We went to a lovely cafe to have a hot chocolate and were seated outside. We then looked around the market and it was lovely but there’s a massive treatment difference to small/medium and big dogs, small dog were allowed in every dog friendly store and cafes but you can see shopkeeper/cafe workers faces looking as if to say “don’t even think about coming in” but apart from that it was lovely. Just keep it in mind if you have a big dog, bring warm clothes and someone to hold them if you want to go into dog friendly places!
It was very lovely and I recommend.Written December 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The climb to the top isn’t what I would call difficult, but it’s narrow, so it can be difficult when passing visitors coming the opposite direction. You can stop in a few places for some history of the tower and where the carillon is located. Once at the top, the views of Brugge are spectacular. Well worth the climb.Written January 1, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- B TLondon, UK1,257 contributionsThe interior is very beautiful with coloured paintings. The holy blood relic they only bring out from 12 until 4? so better to visit during those times.Written December 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Will M9 contributionsI had heard good things about de Halve Maan, but I didn't expect to have the best beer of my life here. I stopped in for lunch (food was excellent) and both their blonde and dubbel were very good, but the tripel was incredible - perfectly balanced maltiness, slight bitterness and aromatics from the hops, and a wonderful aroma and spiciness from the yeast. Staff was super friendly and fast service.
I had made a rule that I wasn't going to have any beer in Belgium twice, but I had to make an exception and come back the next day to try it again. I don't know if it's the best beer in the world, but for me, on those days, it was the best that I've ever had.Written January 20, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ken GChelmsford, UK70 contributionsWe went here for a day trip for the Christmas market it was very nice apart from the weather which was awful. There were many stalls with crafts and food as well. The went to some chocolate shops as well.Written December 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- CautiousClevelandCleveland, OH25 contributionsBruges is definitely worth visiting. Like stepping back to Medieval Times walking around the monastery for lay women was beautiful and so peaceful. The town has canals that you can travel on and there are open plazas where you can relax and enjoy French fries that actually originated in Belgium along with Belgium waffles and Zot beer in one of the original beer gardens or you can take a horse and buggy ride. I would love to go back,Written July 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- B TLondon, UK1,257 contributionsIt’s a lovely area with great views over the water to the belfry. There are restaurants and shops nearby and at Christmas it is all lit up.Written December 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stephen PChurch Knowle, UK34 contributionsLove Bruge but avoid the Christmas Market unless you like crowded spaces. It was rammed and they were arriving in droves from 10am from the bus park!Written December 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brittany_11_10Los Angeles, CA1,861 contributionsQuite enjoyed strolling on the path under/between the trees, checking out the windmills, enjoying the fresh air. Mostly easy to push a stroller on as well, only a few parts rough and/or bumpy from cobblestones.Written August 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ihaveshoosThornbury, UK469 contributionsNice square, and the statue is well placed in a pretty part of town if you are after a photo op. We saw it as part of the Wintergloed event for Christmas 2024 when it was lit with an animation, which I would definitely recommend if they do a festive light event again. Is it a must see? No, I would say not, but a convenient and attractive square nonetheless.Written January 14, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KaladinTLondon, UK192 contributionsProbably my favourite place to drink beer of the places we tried in Bruges. Didn’t have trouble getting a table on the couple of occasions we went. A huge selection of beer and I actually quite liked that you go up to order, as it meant less pressure in deciding what I wanted to try!Written December 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - vicster2472 contributionsMy fiancé and I both had a hot chocolate and we were not disappointed! The drinks were huge and with lots of toppings. I had a salted caramel hot chocolate that was extremely rich and creamy and my fiancé had “death by chocolate” which was delicious!Written November 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tanya PHorsham11 contributionsI’ve just gone through all the reviews and can’t believe no one has mentioned the hot chocolate!
