What travelers are saying
- Graham MorrisExeter, UK535 contributionsFascinating centre, especially in the evening when many day trippers have gone. Great medieval architecture, canal walks, churches, restaurants. A must visit place!Written October 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- kelly0120St. Augustine, FL114 contributionsLots of beautiful architecture and may restaurants to choose from. I loved sitting outside to dine, and people watched.Written August 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brittany_11_10Los Angeles, CA1,808 contributionsBeautiful and serene. Great photo ops on the bridge, or just a lovely place to stroll around and look at. Definitely less crowded in the morning (in the summer, on a weekday).Written August 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brittany_11_10Los Angeles, CA1,808 contributionsNot sure how the person a few down rated this square as "average"; it's gorgeous. Just another part of beautiful Bruges/Brugge (though also very touristy--at least in the summer). Amazing architecture abounds!Written August 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- CautiousClevelandCleveland, OH25 contributionsBruges is definitely worth visiting. Like stepping back to Medieval Times walking around the monastery for lay women was beautiful and so peaceful. The town has canals that you can travel on and there are open plazas where you can relax and enjoy French fries that actually originated in Belgium along with Belgium waffles and Zot beer in one of the original beer gardens or you can take a horse and buggy ride. I would love to go back,Written July 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Steven WNewport, UK205 contributionsGood to see all the history but the tour was a little flat. You have to scan each code and listen and there’s so many it just lost its edge for us.
We also had to rush to make the last chocolate tasting session at the end.
Worth a visit for chocolate fans but don’t expect to be overwhelmedWritten January 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The VR was especially good, despite being slightly out of focus for my eyes. I have docked a star because of the ridiculous situation in the toilets. Why are the baby changing facilities only in the female toilets? I hate this as a father. It is sexist towards women because it dictates that they do the changing, and it is sexist towards fathers because it invalidates their ability to parent. It is disgraceful that such a prominent tourist attraction should act this way. It is thinking from the 1950s.Written January 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Amy CErie166 contributionsWe were in town for a NCL cruise stop back in May and our tour guide from the canal cruise we took told us about this place. It did not disappoint! We split a flight of beers and a pretzel and they were good. I’m not a huge beer drinker but they had a few I liked! It was nice to sit outside on the water and we even saw our tour guide from the canal cruise go by (we had a good laugh and waved at each other)!Written October 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brittany_11_10Los Angeles, CA1,808 contributionsIt's kind of all been said before, but to echo most others on here, this is such a charming, beautiful, historical city that's definitely worth at least a day to explore. This is just one area of the gorgeous town, but it's popular for a reason.
That said, it IS popular. We went at the end of July (more by circumstance than by choice to go that time of year), but we did go mid-week, and it was still quite crowded. There were a few quiet places, especially in the morning, but not in the historic center. If you want to avoid the crowds, avoid high season. Still, though, we had a lovely time.Written August 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It’s located behind the old hospital and is extremely photogenic. It’s a great town to just wander about in no particular direction - it’s all good.Written May 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ABQJaneCascais, Portugal281 contributionsVery unique look at pieces of Dutch Masters’ works. Certain details of famous paintings by Bosch, Memling and the van Eyck brothers laid out in various rooms. The audio guide points out key parts of the installation and what the meaning might be. I had the museum to myself so didn’t feel rushed to get through it.Written October 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - khs30Folkestone, UK41 contributionsVery informative about spuds & chips. Interesting concept. Chips at the end were ok .. perhaps not the best but they were ok. A fun little trip & bit different.Written October 3, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Brittany_11_10Los Angeles, CA1,808 contributionsQuite enjoyed strolling on the path under/between the trees, checking out the windmills, enjoying the fresh air. Mostly easy to push a stroller on as well, only a few parts rough and/or bumpy from cobblestones.Written August 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jpp262017Greater London, UK37 contributionsWe found this by chance whilst walking around the city. Friendly passionate staff with excellent interesting exhibits. We both commented it was the cleanest museum we had ever visited. Very interesting and informative way of passing a couple of hours. Highlights are the on site pub/coffee shop and the cat which roams around the museum like he owns it.Written January 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - pfefmeisterSan Francisco, CA4,373 contributionsWe walked around the outer canal and visited three of the windmills - way bigger than I expected. Nice parkland surrounding and leading up to these historic artifacts. It’s a ways outside the old town section, but, once you’ve run out of options, cruise over here for something unique.Written May 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
