- louisemunsterWestport, Ireland94 contributionsMy husband and I stayed in Begijnhof Hotel on edge of area. It is the most beautiful location , really historic and clean and brings you back in time to a quieter calmer life . Cobbled streets and older buildings . Photos don't do it justice. Well worth a visit , short walk from centre of LeuvenWritten November 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - B TLondon, UK1,248 contributionsIt’s a very beautiful building with an intricately carved facade. It is worth seeing. The space in front was closed off as it looks like they might have been preparing for a Christmas market.Written December 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - OrtwinBreda, The Netherlands1,022 contributionsThis is a large square filled with old-Flemish buildings that give you a lot to watch. Plus it is the big student bar-scene which strangely blends quite well with the whole scenery. It can be loud at some points, but still it has the serenity that allows you to enjoy the architecture. Both during day and night.
Interesting to see how modern and old-medieval blend.Written December 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Beautiful glass houses, and a good collection of Iris germanica which I went to draw every year.Written September 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - OrtwinBreda, The Netherlands1,022 contributionsLeuven is really a mixture of late-medieval Flemish style combined with the vibe of students. You can easily walk around in the city centre as lots of streets are auto-free zones. However, they allow bikes and these are going virtually everywhere. But the streets are relatively wide for an old town, so no worries. Especially here at the Great Market you sense the mixture.
Enjoyable when the weather is good but also close to Christmas time when all the lights are marvelling you as are the buildings surrounding the square. Many have a nice, old interior that brings you back to old timesWritten December 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sabina43 contributionsGreat idea for the early morning or afternoon, or even to spend a day. Swimming pool, boats, water park, traffic park, playground. Currently playground us under construction so only small one is available. Good idea, but it can get crowded.Written August 5, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- The MabonUnited Kingdom417 contributionsI was in Brussels and realised that Leuven is a short hop on the train away. So went onto the Web Site and booked a Sunday 13-00 English tour. Now I've been on a few brewery trips so know what to expect. This one was slightly different in the fact you do a lot of walking. Which is good to get you up to a point where you need a drink. The guide told us all about the History of the firm, beer making and all things else. We got to go to taste 6 different (if you wanted) beers. Be aware Belgium do not make weak beer (The strongest was nearly 9%). I enjoyed the trip (14 Euros). I enjoyed the beers I tasted (25 to 33 cl). Then as we left we all were given a bottle of 9.4% Grand Cru beer in a presentation case to go. Thank you - that is yet to be tasted.Written August 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Ames SMedford, MA2 contributionsI came to have a quiet scenic day away from the bustle of Brussels. This was the highlight of the day trip. It is a beautiful castle, and the area around is pretty. If you’re a runner it’s a beautiful place to go for a jog.

- Johann EekBrussels, Belgium41 contributionsAn interesting building. We saw a fascinating exhibition about Dieric Bouts. A pity, though, that the lighting was not optimal. Most works are lighted from above, resulting in a heavy shadow on the upper edge of the canvas in many framed works. This gives a distorted view of Bouts's framing. The confrontation with contemporary work was not very successful, mainly because that contemporary work could not match the quality of the historical pieces.
The museum shop and cafeteria are thrown together in a very limited space. Not very cosy to sit there and inconvenient to visit the shop.Written January 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The expo we saw was very good. The church not so much.Written May 19, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
