What travelers are saying
- Christel DNijlen, Belgium354 contributionsPeople from all over the province and even the Netherlands come to visit the multi cultural market. On sunny days people walk shoulder to shoulder.
You 'll find food, cloths, live animals, jewelry and electronic stalls.
Don't go there if you dislike crowds.Written September 17, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Over 100 shops (including supermarkets, Primark) and restaurants.
A real disadvantage is the expensive car park (up to € 15 for a day).Written December 22, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TrainbleuBrussels, Belgium39,801 contributionsWe thoroughly enjoyed the exhibition about Leonardo Da Vinci as artist, engineer, and gourmet in the famous Calatrava railway station of Liège. In the section about Da Vinci as an artist, we learned a lot about his use of the techniques of “sfumato” and “chiaroscuro” by studying reproductions of famous paintings. Of course we didn’t expect to see “real” paintings, knowing that Leonardo's Salvator Mundi fetched 450 million dollars at auction in New York and the Mona Lisa is estimated at 700 million dollars. The section on Da Vinci as an engineer presented an interesting mix of facsimiles of his drawings, wooden models constructed on the basis of the sketches, and interactive exhibits we could touch to study the functioning of some of his simpler inventions. The last part, about Da Vinci as a gourmet, was the most surprising. It presented a large kitchen he designed for the house of a friend and showed how he introduced elements of Italian Renaissance gastronomy in France while staying at the Château of Clos Lucé in the Loire Valley. There were also several corners with activities for (not too small) children, like learning the mirror writing used by Leonardo, colouring a picture of the Mona Lisa, or constructing a bridge with wooden sticksWritten November 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Hanna J1 contributionThe best experience during our stay in Liege was undoubtedly our 2 visits at L’atelier du Gin et du Champagne. There is a very cosy ambiance and great atmosphere when you enter the room. Dimmed light and purple light on the shelves of gin and comfortable armchairs. There is a huge selection of Gin - more than 100 different! And also a big assortment of tonics. The service was formidable. The place is owned by Spanish people and the woman who served us during our visit was very friendly, helpful and informative. She was very thorough mixing our G&T’s and used different spices to the drinks to complete the tasting experience. The Gin and tonic bottles are also for sale if you wish to bring back home a bottle or two. Another good experience was visiting the toilets. The ladies room was Venice inspired with carpet with gondolas and a mask and the mens room was inspired by Manhatten. The sink was like a little fontaine and nice hand soap and hand cream scented by Rituals.
We highly recommend a visit to this very special place.Written January 27, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
