- Raintree_ThailandBangkok, Thailand3,422 contributionsThe star attraction among the host of marvelous buildings surrounding the Grand Place. The Town Hall was built in the first half of the 15th century. It's unquestionably one of the most magnificent buildings in the world, constructed with elaborate detail, ornate statuary, and a graceful elegant 96-meter tall central tower. Hugely popular with photo-taking tourists; nearly impossible to get a photo without throngs of people photo-bombing your shots.Written January 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Raintree_ThailandBangkok, Thailand3,422 contributionsNot as imposing or grand as the cathedral but still very impressive. The church, dating back to the 15th century, has several wonderful stained glass windows and some nice paintings, carved side altars, and a lovely marble statue in back of the main alter. Superb intricate statuary on exterior.Written January 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- VanolynPortland, OR139 contributionsWe did not go inside but appreciated the immensity of the building and the history - there is also a good viewpoint from “upper town” right here. We only wish the scaffolding were off to better appreciate the architectureWritten June 26, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - June ASurrey, UK2,486 contributionsLa Bourse is the former stock exchange building on the appropriately named Stock Exchange Square. Sadly it is or at least was closed to the public during my visit in the summer of 2020 but I nevertheless walked past it multiple times each day being so close to my apartment. It is hard to miss because of its central location in the historic heart of the city and looks fantastic when lit at night.Written June 6, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BradJillHong Kong, China155,047 contributionsEglise St. Nicolas—Sint Nikolaaskerk (St. Nicholas Church) is one of the handful of historic churches you can visit around the main sightseeing area of central Brussels. It is located at the Rue da la Bourse and Rue de Tabora intersection, just a couple minutes walk from Grand Place and is open from morning until 6pm for visits.
Historically, there have been church buildings here since the 12th-century. Starting as a Romanesque chapel, the Gothic church that you see today was mostly constructed in the late 14th-century. It has been damaged and restored several times over the centuries but maintains much of its exterior and interior Gothic features as well as a fine collection of artwork, relics, fine altarpieces, carved wooden pulpit and other works, stained-glass windows and other treasures that you can view within. There is an interesting milkmaid sculpture and Bruegel fountain (blind leading the blind) just outside the church as well. All worth a brief look-see when sightseeing in the area.Written November 20, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Beautiful on the outside and wonderfully on the inside, it still is being used actively. A marvel to behold.Written June 5, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Lapinou cookie210 contributionsOne of the most beautiful and emblematic buildings of Brussels. Owned by the Boghossian family nowadays Villa Empain is host to multiple cultural events, from lunch time political conference to art fair.
A must membership to the club for any art and culture lover.

The performance was outstanding as well. The only issue we found (coming from Miami), was the heating system. It was November and was cold outside but it was burning inside the building. We were sweating the whole time.Written March 8, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- BradJillHong Kong, China155,047 contributionsEglise Note Dame De La Chapelle (The Church Of Our Lady Of The Chapelle) is situated upon Place de la Chapelle and is open from 10am to 6pm daily. The church dates back to the 12th-century and mainly features early Romanesque and Gothic features added during the 15th-century. There is also a Baroque style tower that was added after the French bombardment in the late 17th-century. Notably, this is where Flemish Old Master Pieter Bruegel the Elder is buried.
In addition to an impressive exterior, there are a couple monuments outside the church worth having a look-see. These include the recent tribute statue and plaque to Bruegel as well as a replica obelisk fountain that resembles the 18th-century monument that once rested on the old church grounds before they were converted into a public square in the 1820s.
There are interesting things to see within the church as well including fresco paintings, stained-glass windows, delicately carved wooden pulpit and confessionals, Baroque side altars and other items of religious worship. The main altar and apse are nicely ornamented while the nave offers statue lined columns. Overall, it is a nice church, worth 10-15 minutes to explore if you are interested in historic churches and enjoy seeing them during your travels.Written November 21, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. From there it is only a short stroll. Meanwhile it is possible to visit the exceptional buildings of the Cinquantenaire. The Cauchie house is just round the corner of the amazing Triumphal Arch. The only disadvantage is that is is only open the first weekend of each month. But if you happen to be in Brussels, you surely shouldn't miss it.Written January 5, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BradJillHong Kong, China155,047 contributionsThe Carillon du Mont des Arts is a lesser known attraction in Brussels but one well worth seeking out to view if you plan to spend time sightseeing in this area of the city. It is constructed here in the 1960's and is located on the inner facade of the Palace building facing the square.
What you will see is a large gold-coloured star with 20 pointed arms as well as 12 niches which are fitted with painted figures. There is a jacquemart standing next to a bell, while others hand below the clock face. If you are are nearby at the hour, quarter hour or half hour, you can hear Flemish folk tunes being played by the bells.
The Carillon is a neat little attraction to find, see and potentially hear while you are at Mont des Arts spending time in the park or sightseeing the various monuments scattered within.Written November 14, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
