This is the most darling area of Amsterdam. Do yourself a favor and just wonder, it’s fantastic! So centrally located and charming.

As we wanted to do most of our Amsterdam exploring by walking, we included Vodelpark on our journey. It is easy to find, whether you use transportation or simply walk to it. The park is beautiful and varied in what it has to offer tourists and locals. It is a very large park, and we enjoyed our long walk through it before exploring the neighborhood across from its entrance (on the other side of street S100).

We passed through this big busy train station many times. The Netherlands is famous for excellent public transport, so there are trains everywhere. In Amsterdam they arrive at this big station, which can be very crowded and chaotic. Many of the city trams come here. It is not pretty, but it functions well and is essential.

A fun market to call into while in Amsterdam. Cheaper souvenirs than those found in other places, a cool vibe and some food to try. Interesting stuff to see, allow about an hour to an hour and a half.

One of the centers of the city and you will surely pass through here. Several important buildings are here and you are in the middle of all the shopping. But this is also the middle of all the tourism, so be prepared for wandering crowds. Some construction going on during our visit, making it a bit of chaos.

Really interesting place to walk around with a fascinating history and a lovely church. It is a really lovely place to spend half an hour and find out more about Amsterdam's history.

A very classy part of town, away from all the honky tonk. The museum buildings are gorgeous and are in park like settings, and along canals. There are a lot of tourists, but the crowds seem to melt away. Places to eat and drink nearby. Buy your museum tickets ahead of time.

I originally had planned to spend part of the day working remotely from the library on my last day in Amsterdam before taking the Nightjet train to München. As luck would have it, my Airbnb hosts graciously let me stay late into the afternoon on my final day so I did not need to use the library, but I did stop by the library for a bit to have lunch and check out how practical it would be to work from there. They had an overwhelming number of places where you could work, with outlets and good lighting. I did quickly try to get on to the internet, but struggled a bit and did not take the time to get it figured out. I'm sure the staff could have helped if I had asked. The cafe at the top had nice food and a beautiful view from the terrace.

The flower market was a few steps away from our hotel, The Albus. We found our visit to be a nice experience but nothing special, maybe due to our Keukenhof visit earlier. In my opinion during Keukenhof season visiting this market has no point. Of course outside the season it may make sense to visit this place and buy some buds/flowers.

With its array of international food stalls and a couple of bars, it's a hub of excitement. Visiting on a bustling Saturday lunchtime meant it was packed, making finding a seat a bit of a challenge—but totally worth it! It's not your average fast-food center (but still fast-food); it's a lively spot bursting with flavor. It reminded me of a place I visited in Ghent not so long ago.

One of the very pretty canal streets. We enjoyed our walk down this street and took some photos of the unique buildings. But we had an errand to run so we did not linger. Worth a Stroll.

Lovely bike ride from the city centre, a few hours in nature and kids loved the space and freedom to roam about just a few kilometres from the busyness of central Amsterdam! Worth a visit and the bike ride from the city centre is very manageable even with primary school aged kids, especially on a tandem!
