24/7 at least five crossings every hour, no charges. Pedestrians, bicycles, motorbikes are all admitted. Big improvement that motorized vehicles have to turn off their engines. Moreover, inside you are not exposed to wind, rain or snow.

It is one of the few public services for which you do not have to pay.
You have already paid the exorbitant taxes before.

Amazing ferry service to Pampus Island and Muiderslot Castle. The crew were all extremely personable and kind. You can only go to either Pampus Island (historic fort) or Muiderslot Castle. We went to the castle and had 2.5 hours to explore the building and the grounds before the ferry boat picked us up. It was the perfect amount of time. Would highly recommend this ferry service.

Pros: Worth going there for a differentviewofthecity. Ferries are located behind the train station and it takes 2 minutes to cross and they run every 5 minutes. Take advantage of it and enjoy less people and bikes (after you get off the ferry) on the other side. You can also drop by the "This is Holland" attracton (check the price), the A'DAM lookout (about 15 € to go up and 7.5 € to swing on top of the roof, off of the building!), and the Eye Filmmuseum.

Cons: thre are paying toilets at the station, so if you can ... wait until you get to the other side and use the free ones at some of the above-mentioned places.
