We stumbled upon this jazz cafe after having dinner nearby and had a great time! It was €5 entry per person on that particular night, and drinks were reasonably priced and cocktails were tasty. I ordered an amaretto sour 3 times as it was €10 which was pretty good for Amsterdam prices. We appreciated that there was a member of staff that came around to the tables to take drink orders as it was busy and we didn’t want to risk losing seats going up to the bar to order. We really enjoyed the jazz band that were performing, and overall the atmosphere was great. The jazz cafe filled up really quickly as it only opened at 8pm and the jazz band started at 9pm, but all seats were gone by 8:30pm, so get there when it opens if you want a decent seat!

Many years since I visited here, the cool vibe is still the same. Great bands, great atmosphere, everyone having fun. Never changes.

Great venue for world class Jazz. Beautiful view of the city from the club. Food and drinks available, but we only had the draft beer. Great club, would return on next visit

I actually went to Bethany's in May of 2015, but it was one of the most memorable and vivid experiences of my time in Amsterdam.
At the time, Bethany's held free jazz shows every Wednesday night, with only the drink money to keep the shows going -- a real community effort. The musicians were veteran players, you could tell; they easily swapped arrangements, played solos, and accompanied people they had only just met with skill and soul. It was a very unique format.
I was staying at Shelter hostel across the alley, and one guy from out of town who was also staying there got invited up to play guitar for a couple songs, just impromptu.
I don't know if they're still doing it or if they've perhaps moved the initiative somewhere else, but attending this special evening made me feel like I lived there.

We had lunch here last Sunday. Overlooking the Amsterdam IJ. The menu offers no special things (sandwiches, salads, pasta, etc...), but we really had a good time. Staff is very friendly. Good value of money when visiting KNSM district. And, do enjoy the old building.

The old fart running the queue was really mean. We probably sounded horrible but he was still pretty rude. Bouncer was not very friendly too.
