- Exploration747341Eindhoven, The Netherlands4 contributionsDe Pont is a great museum; probably the best in south eastern Netherlands. If you want to see top class contemporary art outside the big Dutch cities this is the place to go. Established in an old textile factory - which is worth a visit in itself - the level of exhibitions has remained high since it's opening in 1992. There's also a quality cafe and very pleasant 'natural' garden.
Another couple of suggestions are the North Brabant museum in Den Bosch and the Bonnefanten museum in Maastricht.Written January 24, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I expected it to be fairly small, but it actually has quite an extensive collection.
Upon arrival, you'll be greeted at the front desk. Tickets are 12,50. There are reduced tickets for kids at 10,50 and and students at 11,50. For people who have a Museumkaart, it's free.
Adres purchasing a ticket, you'll pass the museum cafeteria before entering the main exhibition. This exhibition consists of a ton of taxidermy animals, all sorted according to sort. Each showcase has a little TV that allows you to research the animals. During Covid regulations, each visitor received a little stylo to tap the screen with.
On the second floor there were multi other exhibitions. To mention a couple; nature in Brabant, the ice age, animals and reproduction and for kids there is a large play/ discovery area. They also have an interactive and digital pubquiz, which is quite cleverly made. Once on the ground floor again, you'll pass throw an awesome prehistoric exhibition. It has animals, little decors with mannequins and all the sounds and lights to make it immersive. Lastly, you'll get to see the skeleton of a giant spermwhale and visit the gift shop.
I really loved visiting and I will go back some day to look at everything thing again. I think it would also be great fun with kids!
It is easy to reach as there is a parking garage close by. The train station is located at a walking distance. It will take you around 5-10 minutes.Written January 11, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ellij RooijakkersTilburg, The Netherlands41 contributionsI just love Theaters Tilburg. The two buildings, though built in a different architectural style, still represent a unity through the large glass walls. For the people who keep an open eye there are many works of art to be seen in both buildings, but mostly in the Schouwburg. But my favourite location is the Concertzaal with its amazing lightning art, by Peter Struycken. And of course the sometimes very special choices in programs. I just love most of the cross over concerts!Written November 17, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Strip2443 contributionsYesterday we went to the best historical shopping centre of the South of Holland, the Aabe factory. First of all was the free parking at the centre very positive to me, secondly we shopped in a lot of different shops in this amazing part of Tilburg. In the end of the day we had bought a very nice and cheap boxspring at Beddenreus, had a nice lunch at The Ketelhuis, did some more shoppings at some more furniture shops and went home with a big smile at our face! It was my first time that i was there and i am sure that it will not be the last time. Nice experience!!Written June 9, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- 88henkBreda, The Netherlands116 contributionsWhat a surprising place, dedicated to reptiles, spiders & other small animals and birds, with highly motivated and loving staff. Went with small kids (8-10 yrs) and they loved it. They could touch snakes & spiders, look at a bird of prey show and see monkeys, crocodiles and all kinds of other reptiles.
Small restaurant is present for the coffee of the parents, and ice cream of the kids.Written February 4, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Robert ORotterdam, The Netherlands3,647 contributionsThe modest 16th century chapel was restored in 1972, and was a place of pilgrimage since the 19th century. Nowadays it is still a place of worship and the people maintaining it keep the place immaculate and in very good shape with fresh flowers in front of the madonna with child and lots of activities like concerts and the weekly 'rozenhoedje' on Mondays. It is a small and cozy place with in addition to the niche with madonna, sixty chairs and a small organ.
Interesting to visit if you want to find out about Roman Catholic tradition and culture that still constitutes the core of the value system in Brabant.
Note the relics near the madonna (legs, knees, hearts etc.) and the plaques with words of thanks to the holy mother on the wall left next to the entrance: "thank you for having opened my eyes."Written October 26, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is neo-Gothic and found in the centre of the city by the main square. The two prominent towers outside reach almost eighty-metres high and are very striking. The interior arches and colonnades are less unique but still grand all the same.Written August 11, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
