Beautiful fountains dot the grounds, and you can spend quite some time wandering around looking at all the various details in the flowers, sculptures and fountains.
From majestic carriages to modern cars, from extensive decoration of the home of Queen Wilhelmina and her daughter, Queen Juliana, to a garden that has to be seen to be believed.

The sand sculptures themselves are magnificent, from the nice entrance indoors to the world scenes outdoors, going into the area with an outrageous animal scene and finishing with 25 scenes from modern Dutch history.
There are playgrounds for kids, shops and restaurants and around the park, forest with paths for walking or biking.

The museum is a great little place to visit, but what struck me the most was the appreciation the Dutch people have for the sacrifices made by the British, American, and Polish forces during Operation Market Garden.

While it's true that most museums can be visited time after time and still reserve surprises, this one especially can be enjoyed at every age with permanent exhibits and in special shows present for a limited time.
The garden level of the museum has an archeology “lab” where children of all ages can experience various aspects of archeology.

I was able to take a guided tour, and the various rooms were very much worth a visit, especially since our guide added many interesting anecdotes about the family who lived in the home.
This time we met a very informative and nice guide, Jan, who knew many interesting details on both the concept of the architecture, and the troubles between architect and the family Kröller-Müller.

There are some well-known museums in the Netherlands like Mauritzhaus in the Hague or Van Gogh museum but I also admire local cosy museums with beautiful landscapes.
Because we had a relative who donated a painting to the museum, we received a private tour by the museum director on the day it is normally closed.
