What travelers are saying
- LindaKettering, UK13 contributionsWe stayed in Lucerne for a week on our honeymoon. Lucerne is beautiful and gives you the lake, mountains, beautiful buildings, and restaurants to chill out in.
It is not a budget break, but use the Co op and Migros stores to buy picnic food some days.
We visited the Lido near the transport museum. Use your free city pass to travel on the buses. At the Lido it is £8 for adults to get in. £8 for an umbrella and £8 for a sunbed.
Well worth it for the day. There is a beach, a swimming pool and the lake to swim in.
There are lockers and changing facilities. 2 francs for a locker.
Overall, it's a lovely holiday.Written July 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The first gondola is small and seats about four people. The second one is huge and can get very crowded. With the half fare care, it was CHF 39.
The views are beautiful. You’re truly on top of the clouds. There’s a restaurant that overlooks the mountains at one of their two hotels. They start serving lunch at 11. Like anywhere in Switzerland, it can be pricy. They also have a cafe inside. Bathrooms are available. The walk to the view points are not too difficult.
We did ride the toboggan. It was 9CHF. They lend you a phone holder as you have to use both hands.
Lockers free since you can’t take your bags with you. It is easy and fun. It takes about 4-5 minutes to reach the bottom. You are then pulled back up.Written September 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Was a bit foggy when we got up to the top but still a fun adventure. Took a hike on some various trails, tied an alpine cheese farm and picked up the train at a lower station. Truly a fun and low key day in the mountains.Written August 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- DeborahjuneToronto, Canada722 contributionsA beautiful historic covered bridge that shouldn’t be missed seeing. Walked through on our way to lunch and our lake cruise. Take your time and look at all the beautifully crafted wood and art pieces. - shortcyclistBirmingham, UK83 contributionsBreathtaking monument. It’s worth the walk over to it. You will have great photos as it’s set back and high enough so you won’t get blocked with people to get a good view.Written August 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Carolyn DBrighton, UK152 contributionsThis was an interesting mix, we only had an hour so had to rush round. We really enjoyed the caves with the projections, and there was some interesting geology. The waterfall is a non event. The mirror maze was fun. It was quite expensive, but you could send longer here.Written August 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - shortcyclistBirmingham, UK83 contributionsThe collection is exquisite and it’s quiet so you came really enjoy the pieces. Seeing some of the studies for the grand works was so inspiring to see the raw sketches was incredible. The entry fee is a bit higher than average but I felt well worth it.Written August 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 393SylvieSudbury, Canada27 contributionsWhat a beautiful venue! We were lucky to be able to see a brass and woodwinds orchestra perform some works with Organ and Piano. The staff were helpful in locating our seats for us and I was very grateful that someone spoke enough English to clarify things when another patron insisted we were in their seats! The concert was fabulous, so glad we got the opportunity to see a live performance here.Written May 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DeborahjuneToronto, Canada722 contributionsAfter walking the old town we climbed the hill to see this ancient wall. There are beautiful views of Lucerne from up here. We would have loved to have taken a picnic to enjoy on the lawn with the gorgeous view! Many towers to climb but we chose to climb the clock tower. Take your time and you’ll make it to the top! Incredible views.Written September 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
