Looking at the chapel bridge and hearing all the history behind it was amazing. Just to see the craftsmanship involved in constructing this bridge was amazing. As you walk along the bridge there are numerous paintings depicting events of times gone by. It's just a beautiful sight, one that even the best pictures can't capture.

This carving is more impressive than photos can show online. The area is beautiful and the detail on the carving is amazing. It's worth looking up the story of why is was carved and what it represents.

Catch great views of Lucerne and the mountains from the wall and the towers. You will have to walk up many stairs within the towers to access the wall, but it is worth the trip. Walking along the wall is also challenging if you are a bit leery of heights. Grab the handrail!!
If you are lucky, you can see some cattle or llamas in the field behind the wall.

If you can. I imagined soldiers running to man the towers in times of attack. We made it to the top with wonderful views and unexpected findings. The walk back to the hotel along the walls between the towers was very pleasant

This church is beautiful and has unique flags inside of fighting groups. But just keep in mind that the Jesuits were responsible for the death of thousands in the area and were cruel and brutal.

This bridge is s shorter and less famous than the Kappel Brucke, but is similar with amazing historic paintings in the roof too. it should not be missed when in Luzern.

On our afternoon walk-about of the old town this was one of the squares we saw. Many of them were quite beautiful with painted houses, signs, fountains, etc. I think this square may have been the best.

The Nadelwehr or the Needle dam was constructed in 1800s for controlling water level of Lucerne city. We had a quick stop here where our guide explained us how this functions, but didn't have the luck or more so the time to witness its functioning. Would be pretty amazing think. Simple tools put to work effectively !! Great thing is such an old idea of engineering is still functional today.

This was my second time in Lucerne, but first in the cathedral. It was beautiful. I was lucky enough to visit at a time when there were no other people so I was able to take my time to look at the magnificent craftsmanship. The art and architecture is well preseved. The only draw back is that thec literature is all in German. If you have time this is a must see while in town.
