The highlight is the Palatine Chapel—a must see in Palermo! It looks like it was just built. Would have loved to attend Mass here.

Very moving experience especially seeing the younger persons who were placed there. A UNESCO world heritage site, it was creepy to see those who were mummified. €5 is very good price for this. My only critique is that they need to enforce people to be quiet as some brought young children who do not know how to respect the dead.

Very good tour of this old Spanish Inquisition prison. Fascinating graffiti on the walls left by the prisoners from the -17th century and the guide was able to provide lots of information on the family who later owned the palazzo.

Chiesa di San Giuseppe dei Padri Teatini was not just another church -- of which there were more than a lot in Palermo. It was one of the highlights of our visit. Beyond incredibly beautiful, incredibly ornate and incredibly stunning, the complex was replete with interesting religious artifacts and gorgeous artwork. Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of Chiesa di San Giuseppe dei Padri Teatini was the hypogeal (underground) church of Saint Joseph. The crypt contained the remains of a previous church, Our Lady of Providence, which held immense religious significance.

Situated not far from the port and dating back to the 1600s, this old palazzo is worth a visit. You are free to wander around the house at your own pace and it wasn't very busy when we were there. Beautifully decorated rooms and an unusual terrace with a fountain decorated with shells leads from the Canopy room on the second floor. Have cash with you though as they don't accept cards and ask for a guide sheet in English - we weren't offered one and only realised they had them when we saw others with them halfway through the house.

The "Oratorio del Rosario di Santa Cita" (Oratory of the Rosary of St. Zita) is a Baroque prayer room. It has remarkable stucco tableaux scenes composed during 1687-1718 by Giacomo Serpotta.
The main altarpiece depicts a Madonna of the Rosary and Child with Dominican Saints by Carlo Maratta (1695).
The counter-façade has representations of the Glorious Mysteries, with the Resurrection, the Ascension, the Descent of the Holy Spirit, the Assumption of Mary, and - at the top center - the Coronation of Mary.

The Anteroom to the main oratory hall have portraits of the former directors of the confraternity.

For me, this is the most beautiful Oratory in Palermo, with its white stuccoes with a few golden details.

This Palazzio built 1802 is a real surprise. Its a bit out of town / 11km but worth. Its the (1) architecture (2) wall decoration/fresco (3) the magic diningtable with an "table-elevator" to the service quarter / kitchen in the basment. Its next to the PALAZZIO NISCEMI (today villa for guests of the city Palermo) in a beautiful garden. Only open Saturday/Sunday - book!! Also worth seeing!

Magnificent building - a worthy monument to the genius of Ernesto Basile and to brilliant and painstaking work of the restorers who have been doing a tremendous job of re-creating the interiors lost to fire.
If you are an art nouveau buff then you simply must see it and if you are not then still come and maybe become one ;)
Ah yes - and it's free to visit!

Interesting place to visit but disappointed all the information was only I Italian. Could only gather what the rooms were about by photographing the Italian text and using google translate which used up all my battery.

Large, secluded, abandoned, church, without roof, not far by piazza magione, now in summer setting for performances; for me despite being the falling ruin of what once was a magnificent one, preserve somwhat of magic and inspiring, it's well worth a little detour.

We had a highly enjoyable visit to this splendid villa up in the Zisa area, with its lavishly painted rooms, interesting collections of paintings and objet d’arts and enormous Moreton Bay fig in the strollable garden. A post on Facebook helped me realise that it was just a few blocks away from our flat, so we combined it with the nearby Villino Florio for a very pleasant morning. Federica met us at the door and gave us a private tour, since we were the only guests there at that particular moment, filling us in entertainingly on the engrossing details of the Ingham and Whitaker families and their lives in Sicily. The only sad thing was that the pretty big library of English books, including a lot of classics from the 20s, like Sax Rohmer and John Buchan, is destined to simply gather dust and remain unopened and unread. (And if you’re up in this area, why not pop into the Mille Luci bakery along the road in Via Lascaris, where the pastries are absolutely yummy!)

The harbor is very beautiful. There are a ton of sailboats. It was an amazing sunny day when I passed by. A real nice place to sit and rest for a bit.

Can't understand why this magnificent church is not included in UNESCO heritage (”Norman Arab Palermo and the cathedrals of Cefalu and Monreale”)
Can't understand why the Byzantine influence on the above monuments is not even mentioned (although it is obvious, especially in the case of La Martorana church and Monreale Cathedral).
However, if you're interested in Norman Arab Byzantine monuments in Sicily, you should visit this church as well.
It is located in a picturesque neighborhood and has a lovely garden and a cloister.
