What travelers are saying
- Dmitrii MarinkevichManosque, France187 contributionsWe visited Palermo for 1 day by cruiser and had great chance to see the cattedrale di Palermo. Walk around and take few photos. Sit inside and pray. Some areas are not accessible, but it was not an issue.Written November 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CynicorenBeersheba, Israel2,577 contributionsIf you are into art and history, the Norman Palace is Palermo's best offering. The mosaic ceiling is absolutely amazing, the gardens are very nice to stroll around.
Certainly Palermos best attraction for fans of art/history/religion.
On top of the mosaics, there are modern art displays in the palace.Written November 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A UNESCO World Heritage site, it's mix of architectural styles and ornate decoration make it vey pleasing on the eye. Byzantine/Arab/Baroque styles all blend together with magnificent frescoes, especially in the cupola. At just 2 euro to enter, it is well worth the small fee but it can get crowded.Written October 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Catherine BDublin, Ireland7 contributionsThis was an unusual visit and one we are unlikely to forget. The Catacombs mainly consist of lines and lines of dead bodies. The atmosphere was hushed and respectful while visitors tried to take in what they were looking at. The saddest part was the infants and children. I found it interesting to see the 19th century clothing on the bodies, although faded and dusty you could make out some of it. It was very disappointing that there was no guided tour and there were no explanations to read about the bodies in the catacombs. Read the information on their website before you go or you will not understand what it is all about.
This is not for everyone! Don't bring young children here. If you can go as part of a guided tour.Written October 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Wonderful that it is still a home, lived in and loved. Highly recommend this visit. Allow time to find it - fairly neat the cathedral but in the backstreetsWritten September 23, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CharlotteAmsterdam, The Netherlands2 contributionsWonderful and inside is totally worth it! Lovely place to sit and rest inside. We sat there for a couples of minutes and enjoyed every moment.Written September 6, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Canadian TravellerKelowna, Canada94 contributionsThis is a fountain that rivals the fountains in Rome and Florence. The statues and write ups give you lots of information. There is a church next door that you can climb up to the roof and get a Birds Eye view. It is fenced off and when I went there was no running water.Written August 27, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - chrissyAdelaide, Australia107 contributionsConsidered the historical centre where two major roads meet and four historical corners meet. Each corner represents a story and each corner has a small fountain below the story representing one of the four seasons. It is an amazing location. Get there early in the morning before all the crowds and noise arrives.Written September 25, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BansteadfamilySurrey, UK320 contributionsHaving read previous reviews I wasn't expecting anything in English at all. As it happens our guide had quite good English and gave us quite a few details although not as many as he was giving to the Italian visitors. Best to assume it's a bit hit and miss. Although this is called the Inquisition museum it is less about the actual Inquisition and more about the evidence and artwork left behind by those imprisoned- still fascinating. And of course it's in a wonderfully ancient palazzo with it's own history. You can only go round by tour and the tours go hourly- you can check the website but take the info with a pinch of salt!
Still worth a visit.Written May 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Located in the historical city center, surrounded by buildings and churches that really need painting and renovations, you can find in its center a beautiful water fountain that ,sadly, doesn't work.Written November 15, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Matt HLondon, UK51 contributionsBeautiful church and really interesting to see the monastery and how the nuns lived up until 2014
The cost of entry is a little steep compared to others in the city, but we went to many churches and this was our favourite and worth the visit.. To top it off you get fantastic view from the roof top of the whole city a chance to relax in the courtyard and buy the most delicious cannoli everWritten October 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Be careful on the way back; they take a different route. Go to the shrine in the late afternoon. There is no one there.Written November 8, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Michaela K2,226 contributionsWent into the church, it looked beautiful from the inside and we also went to the top.

It has simple decorations and an amazing, ornate floor. Well worth the admission feeWritten February 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JimvinCaterham, UK944 contributionsNot a long visit on this one as the second floor was closed off. The English guide had lots of information, and I was disappointed I could not go to the second floor as it sounded interesting. I am not sure of the reason. Some of the rooms are incredible, some are tired and in need of restoration, and there was a wonderful fountain in the middle courtyard. You can buy a combo ticket for two close by museums. Not expensive. Allow 45 mins to one hour on this Palazzo.Written April 14, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
