Comprehensive excursion. Communications excellent as was the pace of the 6+ hr. excursion. We walked inside a lava cave, hiked on the snow capped volcano & saw up close the devastating force of lava flows.
I’m 70 & loved it. I skipped the longer hike on the snow (too slippery even with hiking shoes). exploring the inside of the lava cave was a bit out of my comfort zone (but I did it). I’d recommend wearing sturdy garden gloves to crawl through parts of that lava cave. Maybe the tour operator should have some at hand for the older guests who must crawl to get through a very low lava rock ceiling. Not complaining, loved it, but the gloves would’ve been appreciated. Ended up with a few scratches on my palms.
It’s fairly priced. It was a day of learning about Mt Etna. Highly recommended despite my observations. He explained everything in detail and made sure we were safe the whole time. This tour is definitely worth the money and is a once in a lifetime experience which everyone should do at least once when visiting Catania. Tour guide was very informative, pacing also good- certain downhill paths were slippery and not easy but everything manageable for a beginner, with plenty of small breaks. The cable car was not open due to the weather but our guide Guiseppe helped us organise a quad bike tour which was really fun and I would recommend. It was very well organised. The wine tasting was excellent with 4 wines tasted and olive oil. We were provided with lots of great tasting food so go hungry. We bought lots of wine and oil but there was no pressure to buy
Guiseppe was fun and really knowledgeable and was happy to answer questions and give recommendations of places to eat and places to visit

Joelle is smart and very well informed who seemed to really enjoy teaching us about the history and area as we sailed. We stopped at Ali Costello and swam while Joelle made us snacks and drinks which we enjoyed before we began our sail back to Catania. Very relaxing. Boat is very comfortable for sailing, and enjoyed making new (international) friends on the trip. My daughter arranged the tour when we returned from hiking in the Dolomites. Our guide was Massimo and he was incredibly knowledgeable, gracious and patient. His focus was on safety and he was accommodating of all fitness levels and hiking paces. Our hike was on October 16th and we were grateful to share it with new friends from several countries. The views were magnificent and the camaraderie and conversation were lovely. Since my husband is working in Sicily, we will definitely do this again when friends visit.
