Just missed the tour, so I peeked around. I recommend the 10 euro tour for the best experience and must see ancient foundations. Still an active school and some of the lecture rooms are deep in the ancient foundations. Walkable from the duomo (St. Agata). Authentic and not touristy.

Definitely worth a stop if you are in the Catania area. The exhibits are excellent and very informative. We were discouraged from taking pictures inside, so I did not take any. A "must see" if you have an interest in WWII. One area has the military uniforms with accessories for each country involved in the invasion. Only 2 euro for seniors, I highly recommend this museum.

Lovely place with a menu full of meals served in generous portions and with a full bar menu. Great ambience, lots of locals and good polite staff. Medium priced.

View from the top of the tower gives a good view of Etna. It's not cheap to enter but there is a great collection of ancient pots, stonework and items over the years. I would have liked to have seen a recreation of how the rooms looked but this is laid out in a museum structure.

The best filmmuseum ever. Our son - 18 years old and Italian film lover, said it was the best experience. We simply loved it.

On a rainy day, we visited the museum without any particular expectations, yet we left full of beautiful impressions. The staff was extremely friendly and made their best to explain stories behind each of the exhibits, describing individual parts of buildings and how they were made of certain material to resemble the real materials. We could touch each of the exhibits, which is the point of the exhibition primarily made for blind, yet great for anyone who wants to learn more about the most important Mediterranean buildings and their history. At the end of the tour we had a pleasant conversation with the crew and learnt some more about the Braille alphabet, which was also interesting for the children as well as ourselves. The kids said it was the best museum they have ever visited and it may be close to the truth as there are few where time passes so quickly and where you actually remember what you saw and learnt. Certainly highly recommended.

Visited this museum in Catania, the visit included a trip to the baths under St Agatha Church.
Interesting place with a lot of local history spread over four floors.

Do try to get to the roof top if its open it gives a great view down on the main square and across the city.

The performance was very entertaining. Even though we didn’t speak Italian, we were able to follow. They also explained the plot to us in English in the beginning. Four generations of the Napoli family all gave a wonderful performance together. The way they guided the marionettes with their hands was impressive, as was the voice work. There is also a small museum about puppetry. We had a nice and unique evening in the theatre.

The space is a bit smaller and you can went through all the art pieces in under 20 minutes. The artwork is however fascinating and I think it's definitely worth the money. The staff was very kind. There is no AC but the temperature was OK and way better than outside.

The scientists at the Osservatorio were professional and competent.
At the same time, they explained things to us in such a manner as to make the night sky easy to understand.
The tour was interesting and worthwhile.
Jupiter, Venus, Saturn and the Moon did their job perfectly!
Thanks to the researchers Enza, Giovanni and Giuseppe!

We arrived in Catania and landed here and were pleased to find such a charming place. It is one of many hotels that have made their space in the old palaces, a great use for these buildings. Our room was spacious and had all of the amenities that we liked: safe, AC, fridge, quiet, and a good breakfast. It is a little hard to find, but worth it. We ended up taking a cab from the airport, and if you do be sure to have the folks at the info desk call for the cab. The price is better.

This small intimate museum contains about 5 or 6 rooms of Bellini memorabilia, and is an absolute must for lovers of this composer's music. Beautiful portraits, statues, and musical instruments are on display in some rooms, in others there are scores and posters. This is the place Bellini was born in and raised until he was 16. The museum cannot be reached from the main street, but entered by a courtyard. When you enter, the entrance to the museum is diagonally across from the courtyard entrance, and up a flight of stairs on the second floor. The cheerful custodians of the museum will lead you around (in Italian) or let you wander. Admission includes entrance to the Emilio Greco Museum, in the same building, back down into the courtyard and up another flight of stairs to the third floor. This museum includes musical instruments owned by the Bellini family, but also includes graphic designs by Emilio Greco and contemporary artists.

We loved this little hidden gem. The collection is extraordinary and the wonderful guides knew and loved each exhibit. A couple of hours spent in their company was (another) highlight of a memorable return visit to Catania. Grazie mille.

Lost my train and found this hidden little bar where I ordered a beer. The waitress asked if I wanted a Moretti or a Sicilian micro brew, and obviously I chose the latter. And what a brew!! I've had hundreds, probably more than a thousand different brews, and this is seriously one of the best I ever had. Incredibly balanced, full bodied, and oh so tasty! I simply love it, and I love this place! And Sicily. Right know it even feels like I love Catania.
And the beer has the most beautiful name: Ulysses. Brewed by the skillful Birrificio dell'etna!
    WOW!!

I wasn't very familiar with the work of this international sculptor who was born in Catania so seeing a whole series of his beautifully rendered etchings was a lovely surprise. He is a master of line and his works contain many romantic and touching scenes of men and women cozy connections.
