What travelers are saying
- Iva SPrague, Czech Republic626 contributions03. 09. 2021 Etna visit - We went alone, without a travel guide, we parked in the parking lot at cratères Silvestri, we didn't even take the cable car, we walked. The routes are quite noticeable. Just every step in the ashes was like two steps, a lot of it slid back. Perfect experience for about 5 hours. We didn't get all the way up, but we saw and went through a lot. I recommend. More Youtube travel video PSIS-visit. - InTheMomentManhattanNew York City, NY1,076 contributionsThe monastery is very well worth visiting. The English tour is really great. Our guide did a great job explaiing the history and architecture of the monastery.Written May 19, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Frozen_FairyTalesSwadlincote, UK83 contributionsNear to the cathedral and behind the fountain, this place is a must to visit. A snap shot of Sicilian life with loads of big characters buying and selling fish that has been freshly caught that day. Wait around for a while and they might even sing!!
We stopped by one young chaps stand to try his oysters €2 a pop with lemon pepper and Tabasco if you want. They were stunning. So much so we went the next day and had it again but on this occasion he was doing a taster platter with a plate piled high with prawns, clams, oysters and sea urchin for €17(for 2 people). A surprising gastronomic experience.
If we were self catering I would be here everyday to get fresh fish. Can’t get better at the price.Written April 29, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Fred GMilton, Canada526 contributionsWe were a group of travellers from Canada, beginning our stay in Sicily in Catania. We visited the The Duomo square within the ancient walls on our first day. The square is a beautiful mix of Baroque and medieval styles. The main cathedral has traces of the original Norman edifice, and after the earthquake it received a new Baroque façade. The cathedral's most valuable and important artefacts are those belonging to the Saint Agatha, who is the patron saint of Catania. The name Agatha means beautiful and good girl. The Elephant of Catania sits upon a pillar, it is the city’s symbol and its statue, made in lava stone, sits in the the centre of the square which is the main square of the city. There is a river that flows under the city of Catania: it’s possible to see it at the Amenano Fountain, in the square. The fountain was built in 1867.Written June 24, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Beth P22 contributionsWe had time to kill before checking in at Taormina and stumbled across this museum it is so worth the time and money (2 E for seniors). It was mostly in Italian but there were some displays had English explanations. It was so touching and heart wrenching. All six of us had fathers in the service during WWII so it made it even more impactful.Written April 1, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Adrian WSouth East England, UK81 contributionsEvery year we've gone, we wanted to visit this Palazzo, but it was always closed; this year, we met a lovely Chinese lady (from Oxford) - Maria, who made a phone call, and persuaded the (curator?) to open up and let us walk around, instead of being with an organised tour party. Its not huge inside, but the rooms are beautiful and worth seeing.Written June 6, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- phat_dawg_21Alpharetta, GA12,262 contributionsThis is a beautiful garden in the center of the city. The flowers and trees were in full bloom in the spring.
Lots of interesting sculpture, and views.Written August 9, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - reallyrosieNashvilleNashville81 contributionsThis is a beautiful cathedral with lots of history and worth a visit.
Many famous people interred in this cathedral.Written June 15, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - InTheMomentManhattanNew York City, NY1,076 contributionsOn a clear day the view from Via Etnea is quite interesting. Seeing the volcano framed by a cityscape is unexpected. Well worth the walk.Written May 19, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Travelingjohn123Peterlee, UK2,279 contributionsThis is about as good as it gets in Catania. Decent outdoor theatre but it don’t think it has been sympathetic repaired and the patch up / add one stand out very badly and degrade a nice old building.
The entrance to the building is very bad and it is really easy to just walk straight past (as we did 5-6 times in the prior days) with noticing.
It is 6€ admission which is about right - it is certainly not worth more, but in this town it seems to be the main tourist attraction.Written May 6, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - phat_dawg_21Alpharetta, GA12,262 contributionsThis is the Abbey of Sant'Agata, located just off Piazza Duomo and only a few hundred feet from the Cathedral of Sant'Agata. It is smaller, and in some ways more inviting because it is much lighter and brighter inside.Written August 9, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Adrian WSouth East England, UK81 contributionsA lovely place to visit, and popular with school parties (well - popular with the school - don't know about the children). IF you want a quiet rest with shady trees and interest flora - here you are. Also has a very clean and accessible toilet!Written June 6, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- LetsGo11215Brooklyn, NY66 contributionsThe building is tucked away at the end of a plaza and dominates the area. It is a beautiful structure worth seeing. There are also restaurants close by.Written May 3, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Zsanett LSliema, Malta19 contributionsNice idea to use this castle as a museum. 3 floors of local collections, modest entrance fee, worth a visit if you are in the area. We were lucky to see the temporary exhibition of a talented local artist.Written March 31, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
