Upon arrival we were a bit worried as the outskirts are deceiving but the city center, the markets, the parks and waterfront are all so lovely ! Friendly locals and delicious food in a beautiful setting . Make sure you venture out to the square and fountains in the evening for spontaneous music and people watching.. the water is simply breathtaking

one of the most beautiful spots in Palermo. Thank God, now it is just a pedestrian area. I recommend also the little alleays nearby.

Isola Bella was on our must do list for Taormina. It was one of those things that I did once but would never do again. We walked the 300 steps up and down, the climb up was slow and difficult. The only good thing was there were several spots along the way to take pictures. Once you get down to the bottom you have to walk through another beach area and a restaurant. Then you walk across the narrow strip of beach, fighting the waves, to get to Isola Bella. Once there there’s not much to do, the area is very small and you have to pay to actually visit the small island. Personally I wouldn’t recommend a visit, instead I would find a spot above in Taormina and take some nice pictures.

I had doubts about visiting this place beforehand, but it turned out to be worth the time. It was nice to walk to the beach and see the white cliff contrasting beautifully against the beach.

Great beach, with nice blue-green colored water and clean. Also great for children because it is not to deep at the start of the beach, for at least 15-20 meters the water height is at knee/waist height deep. But not of the most beautiful in my opinion, mainly because (at least in mid July) it is pretty crowded and almost whole beach from start to the end has set up paid beach umbrellas and chairs ("ombrellone e lettini"), you need to get to the beach quite early (maybe at around 8 am) to get a spot at front if you have your own umbrella (but beach staff doesn't seem to be happy with that), but as I could see there was no table with information you can't have your own umbrella. The paid one with large umbrella and two chairs costs 15 EURO, they will try to sell you for 20, but you can deal for 15, at least in our case we could. There is no price list, must be one price for locals and another for foreign tourists. English speaking is so-so, but so far we didn't had trouble making an agreement.

Ragusa Ibla is a very charming Baroque town with beautiful churches and castles. You can walk around and admire the architecture all around. The town was rather quiet at the beginning of December.

During our previous visit, there was a much smaller crowd inside, there were no scaffolds covering the side altars and as it was sunny outside, there was more sunlight in the church...
Nevertheless, it was still a fantastic experience visiting the Duomo di Monreale once again and admiring the mosaics and the lavish decoration!

This cathedral charges an entrance fee. The external façade is very ornate but internally quite austere when you first enter. The decor of the side chapels is fabulous. There is a lovely marble floor. Remains of the preceding Greek temple are evident in the columns internally. Staff were not particularly helpful

After an e bike ride through flat, rocky but amazing landscape from Favignana, we came around a corner to find this amazing beach... the water was fresh, clear and the brightest of blues. Spectacular!

Beautiful buildings in a busy square. Cafes around that don’t charge a fortune & stunning architecture to view. Fountain with elephant statue is being renovated but looked amazing!

We had a nice evening walk here. The baroque architecture is great and well-preserved. We would have liked to walk longer, but it was already late at night.

wonderful building and surely the highlight of this beautiful town. the interior of the cathedral got rather crowded but it's worth paying the 10-13 euros to see the roof, cloister and museums, which were peaceful and interesting

These gardens are situtated a few minutes away from Corso Umberto and are a real gem. They were developed by Florence Trevelyan and contain a wide variety of plants and flowers together with a range of follies They are on the edge of the cliff and give a range of panoramic views across the sea. To me they are a must see if you are visiting Taormina and a great place to take a break from the many other sights that the town has to offer. There is also a Childrens play area. Whilst we were there the bird song, especially Blackbirds, was an enjoyable feature.
