The tour and Planetarium film show far exceeded my expectations. It was exceptional and the Planetarium film was truly a mind blowing & gripping experience. The guide explained the museum exhibits very clearly without it being too much info overload.
This is a MUST SEE if you're in this area...and worth a day trip from Cefalú.
There's also a wonderful little restaurant on site with beautiful views with locally sourced food.
The location is fantastic ...perched on a hill in the stunning mountain region of the Parco delle Madonie.
A very memorable experience that I can highly recommend.
Only problem was that it was VERY warm inside....please turn the heating down!! ;-)

Montedoro is a little village in the heart of Sicily Island. One of the most important attraction is the astronomical observatory.

We walked up about 300 m of stairs to Madonna Della Rocca with every intention of hiking the rest of the way up the mountain to the Castle...to find out it was closed. It was a bummer, but we still enjoyed beautiful views from up there. I'm not sure if this is a temporary thing, so if you want a great view, take water with you. Many people were expecting the bar to be open once they got up there.

The scientists at the Osservatorio were professional and competent.
At the same time, they explained things to us in such a manner as to make the night sky easy to understand.
The tour was interesting and worthwhile.
Jupiter, Venus, Saturn and the Moon did their job perfectly!
Thanks to the researchers Enza, Giovanni and Giuseppe!

Next to the Garden with views of the valley. Shrouded in Fog when we went with some fog rolling away to see the fortress and the Valley

Interesting to see the valley and the outside of the towers.
