What an extraordinary museum! We enjoyed it immensely as it was informative and fun. Nadia was a great guide who explained how the brain worked to give us the optician illusions. She was a good photographer for us.

The place is quite hard to find the sign at the end of the street is set way above eye level.
The initial greeting by staff was way over the top officious but after the initial poor start things did improve.
The place is full of beautifully made models that explain how Leonardo was able to move on from Archemedes' earlier work.
Having visited other museums where interactive displays have been trashed by children I think k the museum is rightly protective of its exhibits. The written info was interesting but some of the sections specifically aimed at children seemed a little academic.

I had been on my way to the Zoological Museum by the college campus when I came across the Museo Geologico GGMME, which the city's Natural History Museum. What a find! First it is a great rainy day activity with lots of interesting exhibitions on dinosaurs, fossils found on the island, prehistoric artifacts and exhibitions on the geology of the Island of Sicily. I was impressed how much information was packed onto the two floors.

I liked the Dinosaur exhibition on the first floor as it was very detailed in its description of the fossils and where they were found. The T-Rex was fascinating in its appearance. On the second floor is an extensive display of gems and rocks that kept the two field trip groups of students occupied.

It is a nice little museum to visit when you are in Palermo.

We walked by and dropped in. It is small but it is very good. Here you find everything about the vulcano and recent eruptions. Don't miss it!

A fantastic little museum exploring and educating about ocean plastics, sustainability and environmental issues that result.

Based at the Castello di Milazzo, it is a very worthwhile diversion. Go take a look, meet the volunteers and see how they have created a mix of art and science which informs and inspires.

Kids of all ages will find it really interesting too.

among the unesco awarded baroque yellow stone architecture, universally great coffee, the canolis, the fior di mandorlas, the torrocco oranges, the church fireworks mimicking the smoking etna, you wouldnt expect to find this unlikely gem, let alone look for it: the Museo dell'Informatica Funzionante at via carnevale - the work of a passionate yet generous electronics guru and his few equally dedicated friends. this museum of 'working computers' - computers that proudly birthed the information technology revolution, yet were dumped like old parents into fields of cow sh*t, rescued by our aforementioned guru and put to work again. Even though they wont solve our imaginary problems of today, it is a joy to see them come alive when the power switch is thrown down [or up?] :) i had the privilege of programming one such old computer from 1982 - the hp82b - as the first 'hacker in residence' in 2015 [repeat visits in 2016, 2018 to program old plotters] - an honour i wear very shyly but proudly nonetheless! some of the memories are visceral for example the smell of old metal from the chasis of computers reminds one of the virgin joy of taking the pilot seat of a starship or a submersible asking ourselves what can we do with / on this computer! or reading computer lib at the library full of old computer manuals and user guides of all stripes, microfilms, lots and lots of software to bring the amigas alive, a kitchen for more coffee and some pasta maybe, back to the poking hex into the Apple I must visit!

We were supposed to visit a winery after our trip to Etna but due to a misunderstanding it was not possible. We were instead recommendated to go to Etna museum for wine tasting and that was quite an experince. Numerous good Sicilian wines and a never ending line of aperitivos resulted in a very enjoyable afternoon having missed the winery visit. To be honest we did not really check out the small museum, wine tasting and aperitivos took all our time.

Rosy was an excellent guide to this incredible place. Massive value for money: some of the exhibits are either the largest in the world or unique.
    Everyone must go here!

Don Mariano Gullo was our guide for an excursion on Mount Etna and the surroundings. This was really beautiful and rich in feeling the real taste and traditions of Sicily . In addition, Don Mariano offer us typical fruits and foods as to really feel Sicily. The tour itself was from the hotel (Atlantis Palace Hotel, Mascali) and lasted for about half day (8 to 13 30).
Thank you Don Mario, " the boss" for this amazing tour and best wishes.
