My guide Serena knows how to manage a large group. She’s an expert on ‘everything Marsala’: the history, the process and the taste. We are invited in one of the 4 warehouses and walk among 3000 oak barrels stacked on tuff floors close to the sea.

Wife and I went here for one of our honeymoon excursions. First off Laurie our server/wine guide was amazing! She knew so much about the wines, pairings, and the region. She really made the experience special.

Now the food/wine… The winery gave us 4 glasses 2 red 2 white, one of each was from Etna and the other from central Sicily. They were paired with local cheese and meats which tasted amazing.

100% recommend and request Laurie if you can!

We had a nice tour around the brewery, where we got to see the beautiful historic cellars. The guide explained a lot about the history and production of their company. They don’t make Marsala wine, but we got to taste many other kind of interesting local wines. The location was convenient, not too far from city centre so it is walkable. We enjoyed our visit and will certainly visit other Donnafugata wineries around Sicily in the future.

We had a 45 minute tour of the wine making facility and tufo cellar in the basement, followed by an excellent tasting of about 12 wines accompanied by local snacks. Really loved the oiled bread with herbs, the goat cheese, and orange blossom honey. Our guide, Sylvia took great care of us and also kept our young daughter entertained while we did the tasting. I particularly liked the vermouth, wine with almond aroma, and grape must. The moscato paired well with the dried grapes, and the wine with almond aroma paired well with the almond biscuits. 😋

Amazing and highly recommended experience. We were welcomed by the friendliest of hosts…Beatriz and our tour started with a visit to the animals. Kids really enjoyed feeding and learning about the various animals on the farm. We then spent a few minutes learning about tools used by our ancestors which was followed by a letter to Santa Claus and a visit to Santa’s house (kids loved it). Our visit ended with a visit to the winery and some amazingly good wine tasting.

As stated above we highly recommend a visit to this farm.

Excellent, informative English-language tour in a modern facility near the Marsala coastline. We were new to Marsalas and learned a lot. They have a nice collection of antique Sicilian carts as well. (In mapping apps, be sure to search for Pellegrino Ouverture rather than Cantine Pellegrino, which is the industrial part of the winery 1 block away.)

A great place to taste buy and talk about the local wine.

The Leukos (white) wine and the Passito (sweet) wine are both made from the Zibibbo grape.
You will only find the Zibibbo grape on the island of Pantelleria.
For me as a foreigner it helped that the owner, Francesca, speaks very well English.
During the two weeks on Pantelleria we went back several times.

Also try the local made olive oil.

If you just want to buy one of their great wines,
you could also visit the Minardi shop at the harbor.

Francesco, Franca & Maria are hosts extraordinaire.
An unforgettable experience of exquisite food, views & hands-on education. You will never think of olives & olive oil the same again!
    Grazie mille, ed arrivederci! 🙌

Visiting Benanti Vineyards was an amazing experience. I am not a big wine drinker and I went as part of a tour, but I have to say a greatly enjoyed this visit. Benanti is a beautiful place and the tour is most enjoyable. Not only do you get to try some wine, but you have lunch and the food is amazing! If you are not a big wine drinker you will thoroughly enjoy their wonderful cuisine and beautiful surroundings. It is a great place to take outdoor pictures and relax and enjoy. Great tour.

A friendly and educational tour of a young winery operated by a sister and brother in the countryside near Palermo. Valentina led us on an eye-opening sensory evaluation of several of their wines, accompanied by a big collection of essential oils which she used to explain the aromas. A friendly old dog and a number of cats kept us company. At the end, each visitor got to fill a 500 ml bottle with white wine directly from the aging tank, then corked it and labeled it to take home. The price of the souvenir wine is included with the tour. (Book tours in advance on the website. The driveway to the winery comes up very suddenly after a bend on SS119, so be ready for it.)

Nestled in the foothills of Mount Etna, if you are looking for some peace and quiet with some good wine, then this place is for you. With only a limited number of rooms, it does have an exclusive feel to it, as the rooms are in a building secluded from the winery's main tasting buildings, with an infinity pool that has some spectacular views.

Obviously as an active winery there will be plenty of wine tours popping in throughout the day, however this was never bothersome.

Villegrande Winery is relatively isolated, with the village of Milo just over 1km up the hill, so if you are looking for lunch or dinner alternatives then this will be the nearest option. With that said the tasting menu together with wine pairings is out of this world and excellent value for money. The chef is obviously very talented as well as imaginative as they rotate 4 menus so in theory you will not eat the same menu unless you stay for 5 nights.

The rooms are comfortable, clean and well equipped (including a range of their wines). There is a lounge area with tea and coffee facilities should you wish to make use of them. The breakfast was outstanding and for a nice change a la carte.

It should be noted that Villegrande is run very similar to a B&B with the addition of a restaurant. Therefore do not expect to find a bar or restaurant for lunch.
