#3 of 33 Sights & Landmarks in Alghero
Lovely church in the old town with cloisters fro the religious order who lived there, A great example of Gothic- Catalan architecture dating back to the 14th century.
Like many old churches in ancient towns it is plain on the outside and inside the architecture is very striking and here there is an unusual ornate marble altar.

The presbytery has five chapels which include the base of the bell tower and is surrounded by a balustrade of inlaid coral coloured marble.
Although from the outside it doesn't look much (in a true Spanish style), interior of the Cathedral is magnificent, especially the altar, all in white marble and gold.

Inside the church the architecture is very striking and Saint Michael is depicted in several sculptures and paintings seen as you walk around this beautiful church.
The best of this church is the coloured maiolica dome where you can see everywhere you going in Alghero.
