We took one of the boat tours from Alghero. It's about an hour ride each way and the tour takes about 45 minutes. The water at the cave is amazingly blue and clear. Once you get in the cave, you purchase a ticket for the cave tour. The cave itself is gorgeous and well worth the time and money.

The only problem with the tour is there are too many people in the group. We were near the back of the line and found it difficult to know what she was talking about. The other problem is people stop to take pictures and that holds up the line as well.

In addition to taking the boat, you can drive if you have a car and use the steps to get to the cave, however there are over 600 steps. Going down the steps will be easy, but climbing back up... not so much.

Impressive visit, just walk around. Go down stairs to the Neptune cave and enjoy the views of the cliffs and the ocean.
    Beautiful views.

We came to the wine tasting on a tour operator trip. Lovely drive to it. The premises are in an idyllic location and the property is well kept. We had a very informative tour around the vineyard and the olive grove, followed by the wine tasting. This was really interesting and the wines were paired with cheeses and sausage. All in all, a very pleasant evening, would recommend

Lovely sandy beach located around 8-10 in from Alghero. Accessed from the main road out of Alghero on the road to Capi Caccia. Due to its location the sea here is renowned for being clear but cooler than other Alghero beaches. Has the reputation of attracting a younger crowd.

We had great cocktails, superduper friendly staff, by the sea - highly recommended for an aperitif! The only disadvantage - great lounge music but too loud

We visited Nuraghe di Palmavera whilst staying in Alghero.

It was an interesting site although certain sections of it were cordoned off as there were guys doing rebuilding works. This is where my problem comes in. What do you do with sites such as this? Do you leave them as a ruin or do you rebuild most of it to show people what it looked like when it was in use?

I confess to not knowing the answer but I do hope that they don't rebuild it completely as I feel that this would lose some of the effect.

A visit to this place is a must if you are in the Alghero region. In actual fact the place is called Capo Caccia. There are two ways how to reach the caves. On foot and via boat. We chose the toughest one which is on foot.
Booking is advised since there are limited places available per slot. Booking is however easy on the website. You can then pay at the entrance. You can also try your luck by turning up at the entrance and hope that there are empty spots available but this is not recommended because you are not guaranteed a spot and there is the risk of staying in the sun for quite some time.
One other thing before booking is to check the weather forecast irrispective of whether one is planning to visit the cave on foot or via boat. I suspect that if the sea is rough then the boats might not operate. Nevertheless going on foot in bad weather can be tricky as well.
To reach the caves on foot means descending a flight of about 600 steps that are cut in the rocks. There are some tricky parts but one cannot say that it is dangerous.
Down in the cave you basically wait for the guide which will take you for a 45 minute guided tour inside the cave. Since the pathways are narrow one has to walk in a single file and it can get a bit crowded. There are some places where you have to bend a bit so people with mobility issues should avoid it. There are also some slippery bits and one needs to be careful.
The cave per se is well lighted and consists of a vast number of stalactite formations.
Going up is not easy although there are ample places when one can rest. We went with a 5 year old daughter who needed to be lifted up on the way up but thats part of the adventure.
All in all something worth doing once whilst in the Alghero region.

Nice sand, large, quiet water with little waves, beautiful water with a lot of fishes, sea stars, octopuses and so on. There also are a lot of sea urchin so take some water shoes with you because you could easily step on one. There is a bar serving beverages and industrial ice creams. You can also climb to the tower.

Beside being one of the only resorts on the island where the majority of facilities remain open throughout the entire year this delightful town combines history, architecture, culture, stylish shopping, sand, sea, day trips to the interior or by sea, restaurants and the very best of food and wine in one resort. There is always something to do and there is lively vibe about this place.

Unfortunately we couldn’t do a tour because we had our young children with us, however we sat and tried/shared several wines.
It’s a beautiful place and can imagine it’s very busy in the summer. It’s a definite ‘must do’ out of season if you’re a wine lover ! It was a very convenient and enjoyable stop travelling back to our Agristurismo from Alghero to Santa Maria Palma.would definitely return and recommend:-)

When I looked at the entrance of this church, I was surprised. It seemed like a museum with its unusual columns. The tower and the apse is from 1552 was built in late Catalan Gothic style, but it was finished in1730. I liked the main altar (18. century). It’s really nice.

We were staying close by and visited with our 11 year old who had great fun climbing in and out of these ancient caves with permission! Sadly there had been a lot of rain so there was a lot of stagnant water. It is hard to imagine that these caves are so ancient. You are given a free guide which you need to return and each exhibit is translated into English. There are loads of lizards and it is a very peaceful spot. Whilst none of us are history buffs we were intrigued to see this site and enjoyed our time there.
