This is an old mine of the Sulcis Iglesiente: an impressively ingenious work of engineering to speed up the shipments of minerals.
We took the tour in English and our guide was very knowledgeable and thorough in explaining both the scientific/geological aspects and the historical/social context of the mines. We followed his recommendation and went to visit Iglesias and Pozzo Sella next, and we discovered two new gems in the region.

Porto Flavia is next to a superb beach and offers breath taking views on the coast.

Loved that they painted the stairs rainbow colors leading up to the church. We drove fifty minutes specifically to take pictures of this. Worth it.

If you are in Villasimius I highly recommend to anyone to take an afford and make the easy trek up to Torre di Porto Giunco. From (paid) parking lot you can easily reach the top within 15 minute. From the center of Villasimius it is another 45 minute walk or shuttle bus ride (2€). From the top is awesome view of the around beaches such as Simius, Notteri or Cava Usai.

This place has nice views. That is the only thing good. Getting here is ardor. With lots of water - on your reusable water carrier- you should find it nice.

We got the Bus from Alghero and we met with Giancarlo at Capo Caccia. Giancarlo told us how to reach the place and when we got there we got there we met Giancarlo, he is a Local Friend of Guide Me Right...a nice service that we discover in Sardinia and that is available all around Italy...very nice! The walk was not hard at all but the scenery at the end of it was amazing. We ate the lunch we brought with us and we had a good time with Giancarlo, his girlfriend and the other people with us. it has been a great day!

If you are in Osilo you have to go there and see... all the north east Sardegna see. It's good to have a walk from Osilo to there and enjoy a unique experience

Once close follow the signs to the beach. Keep going and you’ll eventually come to a small parking area where a short but steep footpath leads you to the main structure. There are steps either side of the car park which will take you down to the small beach which has limited sand. If you’re visiting during the peak season I guarantee this parking area will be already be full by the time you’re reading this.
The building itself is crumbling with mostly only the internal structure remaining. There are sections where the original outer lining remain, although this too is fighting a losing battle with the elements.
It’s a lovely photo opportunity, you; in front of the tower with the beach below & the pretty coastline. Access is easy & free, although if you are uneasy on your feet the walk up the gully/footpath will prevent you from reaching the tower.

We walked from the town, through various lanes and tracks, although there is access to it from the nearby road. However it is still a fair climb up to the top. The views from here are amazing and well worth coming up for.
