Really impressive, Italian, German and English to every display and laid out well. You never feel hemmed-in and the way everything is displayed just right, fascinating and informative.
    Loved it.

Beautiful views of the countryside and mountains from the cable car. We were really glad to experience the trip on a sunny day.

We visited Bolzano for the day to see the Christmas market.

The Christmas Market was held in the Piazza Walther the town square.

This is the focal point of Bolzano's old town, and dates to the early 1800s.

Cafes and shops line the area, and the duomo sits on one end.

It’s a very nice and conserved castle. The highlight is the several medieval paintings on the walls. I was pregnant at the time and didn’t have difficult to access it but there’s a high climb to enter the place and a some stairs inside. There’s a shop and a library with some books for good prices and the restaurant has delicious meals. Recommend it.

What a hidden gem! Our family of 4 popped in without a reservation and the host welcomed us in despite it being a busy day for her. The vineyard itself is situated in such a beautiful part of the city and the views are simply amazing. The host and her dog are great company and she seems to always have stories to tell. The setting itself is intimate and on a rainy day it feels like you are drinking wine in the clouds. Highly recommended

We did not enter the museum, but would like to very much! When we were there it was already closed, but the view and the anticipation of this place is huge. It is definitely on my new wish list and am sure I will not be disappointed.

This church is in the centre of the town. Its roof tiles are very nice. They are black green and yellow. Inside the church is high and sober.

We took a side trip from the main Brunico-Dobbiaco highway up the valley to its end. You pass very beautiful hamlets against a backdrop of forests, green pastures with cows and the Dolomites. It is really picture postcard perfect.

The façade of the Dominican church in Bolzano is extremely sober. This contrasts with the church interior. Apart from the rose window and a few narrow pointed arch stained glass windows, the rest is completely flat.
It's a nice three-nave gothic church. The side aisles are narrower than the central nave, but the three have the same height. Behind the high altar the side aisles disappear, that on the right becoming however the chapel of St. Giovanni. The vaults on the three naves are ribbed ones, typical of the gothic style. That behind the high altar was however barroquized. The part of the chancel under that vault is separated from the rest of the church by an arcade. It's something which is not very common in catholic churches.
There are on the walls of that church remnants of frescoes of a great value, which should be carefully contemplated and examined. Likewise, there are several beautiful paintings. Inside the temple is very rather quiet. This, coupled with the mentioned artworks, makes the fact of being in that temple be very pleasant.
At the end of the left side aisle there is the chapel of the merchants, whose altar is of a high artistic value due to its architectural features, the sculptures and the decoration. It's was made of polychrome marble by Mattia Pezzi of Verona in mid seventeenth century. It's typical of the early baroque period. It was embellished with geometric inlays and the alternation of jutting and concave volumes. Two pairs of non aligned plain columns with chorynthian capitals support an outstanding cornice and the curved arched tympanum on which one can see two allegorical figures sculpted in the late seventeenth century by Domenico Tomezzoli. The mural paintings by Giovanni Francesco Barbieri are really stupendous. They refer to the miracle of the Soriano regarding the apparition of the Virgin and of the Saints Magdalene and Catherine of Alexandria to the lay brother Lorenzo da Grotteria of the Domenican convent of Soriano Calabro on the night of September 15th 1530.
The Dominican church in Bolzano is therefore in general a very interesting temple which should be visited though if it's just to admire the artworks it houses and feel the serenity deriving from the atmosphere inside.
