Views are breathtaking, Mediterranean is its reputable intense blue and area hums with life - boats, tourists, sunbathers, shopkeepers, dogs, children - everything, all enjoying themselves.
We traveled to the Cinque Terre region on a family vacation, and trekked between Monterroso al Mare and Vernazza!

No sand beaches nice for adults but a bit difficult for young children.

We loved watching children get off the "Scolabus" and play soccer above the town square.
Never tire of walking all through the town, side streets, two churches, and taking in the beauty of the green hills and small family owned vineyards.

... was amazed by what greeted us there...a vibrant town full of shops, restaurants, and tourists!!! Nice to see a piazza with a fountain, a municipal building that looked interesting, and another play area for kids.
The narrow old streets are buzzing with nonnas with their grandchildren, men discussing daily life, children playing or hurrying to school, fishermen taking their boats out and so forth.

The beach is extremely safe (and their are lifeguards if needed) and the waves and currents are minimal, so very good for young children.
Watching all the European children running around and playing in the sand reminds me that children are children are children..we are all the same all over the world!
