What travelers are saying
- Donna BGladwyne, PA401 contributionsWe enjoyed having a Spritz every afternoon while admiring the lovely architecture of the piazza and people watching. There were temporary exhibits set up in tents which detracted a little bit from the experience but every visitor to Trieste has to visit the piazza at least once.Written August 13, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - zomborbBudapest, Hungary18 contributionsThe castle and the park surrounding it was beautiful. We travelled from the city center by bus 6. You can go until the final station (Grignano), the park entrace is very close to that. The park is full of interesting attractions and is very convenient in a hot, sunny day.
The castle is also worth visiting, there were short, informative tables in every room.Written August 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - gringottsgoblindublin356 contributionsGetting up here is a struggle. You will be well advised to use transport or there will be a great deal of Huffing and puffing to get here. The cathedral is perched on top of a rocky hill known as as the capitoline hill which was the site of the first settlement in Neolithic times as it’s clearly defensive and stands sentinel over the city. It was also the centre of the Roman town with temples basilicas and forums and also the magnificent medieval castle. The cathedral itself is small and has some nice mosaics and is atmospheric but is arguably better on the outside than inside. It has a tower that is literally built out of the remains of the Roman temple that pre existed and it is worth going in even if you don’t plan climbing the tower (€2) to see how these columns and pediments sit within the later construction. The setting of the church is lovely and the views are great. It is a very interesting area with layer upon layer of civilisation and settlement. Definitely a must see along with all the other points of interest nearbyWritten May 18, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AdelaideIsabelAdelaide54 contributionsWe were in Trieste for only two days in December so there are not many tours running. It is easy to do some of the main attractions by yourself. We walked up to the castle. It is a bit of a climb but not too strenuous. The views of Trieste from the parapets are beautiful even on a wintry day. My husband enjoyed the armoury.Written December 27, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Marla7Naas, Ireland828 contributionsFrom the Faro della Vittoria you can get great views of the gulf. The building itself is interesting, good example of architecture with a propagandistic agenda. It's free to access but a bit out of town, you can get there easily enough by bus or drive, but you'll have to park on the side of the road and it might be a bit tricky.Written August 11, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David SMiddlesbrough, UK1,705 contributionsTeatro Romano is a roman amphitheater located in Trieste, at the foot of the San Giusto Hill, on the edge of the old city. Apparently the theatre once had a fixed elaborate proscenium with ornate statues and openings which looked out on the sea.Written October 5, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SERGIO L78 contributionsThis is a Greek Ortodox church. When you enter you muist look up and so you will see a joyfull face of a young man: GOD himself in this unique portrait! A Joung smiling kid!! Lovely solution. Then you will meet 2 little columns: the limit of the non babtized, thei are the Hercules Columns as they devide the church in 2 parts: the non babtized and the babtized that can enter the church also after the gospel while the others must exit as they cannot assist to the consacration.Written July 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
