We arrived from the US, got settled in our room and realized our hotel was two blocks from the Colosseo. It was such a shock walking down the street with modern stores in probably 100 year old buildings, then looking down the road and seeing a building created before 100 AD! We walked around the perimeter and up into the hills. The next day, we found our tour company had purchases tours inside for everyone. There are queues everywhere and crowds galore, so bring your patience. There are elevators, but most of the travel to get inside requires steep steps. There is nowhere to sit, but is to be expected in a 2000 year old building. It was stunning to stand in a space where people stood almost 2000 years ago, watching prisoners fight animals for their lives and gladiators fight to the death. Also, found out later this is one of the Seven Wonders of the World!

The engineering of this astounding building is so impressive that it seems almost modern. But it is ancient and beautifully preserved and now one of the big iconic marvels of the city. So expect mobs of tourists all around you. But once you are inside, you will be astounded.

Like something out of a movie; it was so beautiful and amazing. Of course had to toss a coin. A very lively place with many tourists too, so keep that in mind.

This is a neighborhood where you will want to spend some time. It is often cited as one's favorite neighborhood in Rome because it is so attractive and historic. Lots of places to eat here, drink here, have a cup of coffee and lots of great architecture. Look for a hotel here.

Beautiful area with lots of activities to keep the family entertained during the December and January school holidays. There were lots of stall to play carnival-type games where prizes could be won. Also a large carousel for younger kids to enjoy. Lots of stalls to buy snacks such as pancakes.

Be sure to visit this vibey and beautiful piazza.

Incredibly beautiful church that must be visited. This was also especially special for my wife as she loves everything Bernini, and this is where he is buried. We were only surprised by how nondescript his grave marking was, but I suppose the splendor of the entire church is there for him.

We could have stayed all day just enjoying the art that surrounds you with every step.

We bought the combined Colloseum and Palatine Hill ticket and were restricted to viewing the Roman forum and ruins from the top. The views were breathtaking and worthwhile the visit. However not much else to do here.

If you have the combined ticket and you have spare time then worth your while taking the stairs to the top, but it’s not a “must-see” attraction.

An incredible historical site! The views from the top are simply breathtaking, and learning about its role in Roman history was fascinating. Don’t miss the terrace for a panoramic view of the city!

We enjoyed the views of this old estate from the restaurant where we had lunch. It is now a big park, open to the public. Interesting that this big space is preserved in one of the most fashionable and expensive neighborhoods in town. Very nice and green.

It's a famous site from the Roman Empire and one that we all go to see as a part of our grand tour. Lots of stones and bits of sculpture scattered around after all the centuries of destruction and looting. Stand and imagine the commerce here that happened on a daily basis for centuries.

You cannot miss this massive monument to the first king of the unified Italy. It took decades to build, starting in the 19th century. It takes up a huge area of the city and is very tall. Overwhelming, yes. Beautiful, maybe not.

As part of hop on hop off visit we walked to the steps as not very far. Interesting site and as usual in Rome another church attached. Not too crowded as mid afternoon. Not allowed to sit down for photos bit that is OK. Passed through on watt Trevi Fountain

We visited Galleria Colonna with my disabled mother and her sister on 28.12.2024 and our experience was the best. My mother, who uses a walker, was able to borrow a wheelchair from the most friendly staff at their suggestion. Galleria Colonna is absolutely stunning and in one of the rooms there was a pianist playing the grand piano. We enjoyed the art collection and the magnificent palace immensely. We received assistance with the wheelchair several times and the service was wonderfully helpful and the natural smiles of the staff made our group feel very welcome.

    Our warmest recommendation to everyone.

Beautiful church built in the Baroque style between 1626-1650 and dedicated to Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits (Society of Jesus). The Jesuits led the way in the Counter-Reformation and have always been all about education and missionary work. The flagship church of the Jesuits is the nearby Church of the Gesu completed in the late 1500s. The highlight of the church is the impressive ceiling fresco by Andrea Pozzo completed in 1685 celebrating the work of Saint Ignatius and the Society of Jesus throughout the world. It is free to enter the church and is certainly worth having a quick look if you are in the area visiting the Pantheon or the Trevi Fountain as it is located between these must-see sights.
