The ticket cost to enter the Pantheon was €5 for an adult ticket. It is stunning both outside and in. On the outside the original pillars, from AD125, of the portico and the gigantic bronze doors to enter are stunning. On the inside, the massive dome, (and its hole, the 'oculus'), are also a sight to behold. The Pantheon houses the tombs of two of Italy's King's and also that of the famous artist, Raphael. It really is a must see marvel of ancient Rome that still stands today.

I wish i have seen it , as my first time in Rome , without the pathway over the fountain due to essential works that they have to do. But even now is really a great monument!!

Quaint, peaceful, and private neighborhood in Rome with lots of eateries, little stores, and other attractions. Sites on the other side of the bridge, which lead into the busy city of Rome, are within walking distance.

We stayed within spitting distance of the piazza. Walked here most mornings to start our day. Sit on a bench with coffee and just take in the sights, watch the world go by. Imagine how it was. Choice of restaurants and cafes on the piazza, some are great others are just bland and over priced. Go further a field if you want less churned out dishes.

Great church and we were privilege to attend a church service to celebrate / react the miracle attributed to the saint and name sake. Was a very special event.

The gardens are very large, and it could take a few hours to see all parts. The views of the trees in the autumn are magnificent

This mega-sized monument, built in an obvious need to overcompensate as the country strove to create an Italian identity, honors Italy's 1st King, Victor Emanuele II, and was constructed in the early 20th century to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the country's unification in 1861. The architecture is a neoclassical interpretation of the Romann Forum. At the base of the monument is Italy's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier flanked by two guards. Above is the massive equestrian statue of King Emanuele II. Inside is a museum. However, the best part of visiting the monument aside from that it is free is the tremendous views offered from the terraces on top of the structure. There are lots of stairs to climb but it is well worth it. Facing north and west, you can see St Peter's Basilica in the distance. Facing south and east are great views of the Roman Forum and Colosseum. For 12 Euro, you can ride an elevator for an even more panoramic view. The monument is even more impressive after dark when it is illuminated as are the views from the top.

If you want a great photo go early or late in the day. It is a very popular location with many people sitting on the stairs.
There are 12 flights of stairs each consisting of 12 steps. The walk up is worth it and the top affords lovely views.

Starting with the Holy Door on the right as you face the Basilica this is an absolutely amazing Basilica, but then all four of the major Basilicas are amazing. The altar is jaw droppingly beautiful. In the middle, downstairs is a beautiful statue of St. John the Baptist. Everything in this Basilica is stunning from the ceiling to the floor and everything in between. There are wonderful paintings, sculptures and marble throughout. This Basilica is an easy, perhaps 5–8-minute walk from the San Giovanni subway stop. This is definitely worth a visit.

We rented a VRBO overlooking this area and found it very charming. Very early in the morning the vendors set up for somewhat of a farmer's market. Around 4:30pm they begin to take things down. You are able to bargain with most of the vendors.
In the evening, all the restaurants place outdoor seating and it is very enjoyable. I would really recommend this area to stay, as it is very walkable to all the major attractions.

The Fountain of the Four Rivers designed by famed sculpturer Gian Lorenzo Bernini in 1651 is the centerpiece of the atmospheric Piazza Navona and creates a beautiful sight. It was originally controversially constructed for Pope Innocent X who had his family palace at adjacent Palazzo Pamphili. In the center is a copy of an Egyptian obelisk topped by the Pamphili family emblem of a dove with an olive branch. Surrounding this is four river gods representing the major rivers of the four continents under the authority of the Pope- the Nile representing Africa, the Danube representing Europe, the Ganges representing Asia, and the Río de la Plata representing the Americas. The fountain is particularly beautiful at night as is the entire Piazza Navona when it is illuminated. Come experience it early in the morning or later at night to avoid the crowds that are here most of the day.

Santa Maria is considered the likely first official place of Christian worship in Rome. Its original church building was completed in 340 A.D. Through the centuries, it was expanded and renovated. As you enter the building, note the fragments of ancient friezes. Within the basilica, three naves are divided by 22 granite columns. Mosaics were added in the 12th century, the same year the bell tower was constructed. The floor mosaics date back to the 13th century, while the gilded ceiling dates to the 17th century. I took my time checking out all the details. I sat and looked up to the octagonal ceiling painting "Assumption of the Virgin" by Domenichino, surrounded by gilded coffers. I looked down and around to see the beautiful mosaic flooring. I walked to the back of the church for the long shot up the center aisle and the main altar with "The "Coronation of the Virgin"mosaic above. Lots of other details to enjoy as well.
