The Appian Way is well worth exploring for a different view of Rome. Outside the city is pleasant countryside where you can see the old Roman road, including a part with original paving. There are also ruined mausoleums in pleasant parkland. We took the bus out and then walked part of the way on a sunny but not hot afternoon - don't try this in high summer!

Park was a nice break from all the crowds, nice walking area. Highly recommend. Several blocks away there is a cute restaurant with nice drinks and sitting area.

Rome is known as the water city; as the heart of the then empire, engineers had to work out how to transport more water possible to satisfy the city's population needs. Is possible to see in this park six of the eleven aqueducts that transported fresh water to Rome.

Not all aqueducts are of Roman origin, there is one of Medieval origin and some of them are juxtaposed one to other.

This is a popular park where locals like to hang out, picnic or simply for sport purposes. We rented some bikes in the area and we biked throughout this park, Tor Fiscale (nothing of great interest) and the Appian Way which is somehow tricky to get there but not impossible.

P.S. closet metro stations are Lucio Sestio or Lucio Agricola

A must see. Wasn’t too crowded when we went which meant a breath of calm amidst a busy tourist area. Breathtaking views across Rome!

After having watched a cover on TV about Villa Torlonia and especially concerning the time when il Duce&family lived there, we decided to visit Villa Torlonia. (Underground bunker wasn't open to public with "normal" entrance tickets, maybe only groups with guided tours like for the theatre, can see the bunker).

Visiting Villa Torlonia was a great idea! Already the +/- 30 min. walk from the Diocletian Baths to villa Torlonia was very interesting, calm, well kept residential area with plenty of gorgeous palazzi to admire! Many of them are embassies right now.

Villa Torlonia is in fact a huge complex!
Buy a combiticket for villa, owls house, casino.

The park can be visited for free (we saw families having lunch/picknick in the shadow of the trees, some joggers were running around ...). The park looked in desperate need of landscaping, a lot of weeds, no water in the small abandoned lake close to the theatre .... not really a "garden like" park, but the dry weather doesn't help to improve the situation.

Visit includes the spectacular main house/villa, a lot to admire inside, on the 2nd floor you can also see art (Roman school).

Casino hosts a temporary "art"!? exhibition, very quick visit ...

Casina delle Civette/Owls house, very special. A lot of multicoloured windows to have a look at. For my personal taste however limit "kitsch".

We enjoyed our over 2 hours visit to Villa Torlonia very much as it was a special place to spend quality vacation time away from the stressful actual Roman mass tourism 🌞

To return to Roma Termini we took the bus 82 opposite the main entrance on Nomentena.

Recommend a visit of the Villa Torlonia.

But be warned that the limonaia-"restaurant" in the Villa Torlonia park isn't a highlight for a nice pit stop, terrible service, maybe a quick drink at the counter and then bye bye.

Visited to take part in parkrun.

Lovely park, mostly flat. Popular with local dog walkers.

Easy to get to from the metro (line A).

Beautiful informal gardens a 15 min walk from Piazza de Popolo. We really appreciated the peace and tranquility, a total contrast to the hustle and bustle of central Rome.

We hired boats on the artificial lake, it was so relaxing.

A very large park with a lake and lots of lawns.
Possible to rent a bike by the hour.
It's very pleasant to take a stroll and relax on the many scattered benches.
    A very pleasant atmosphere.

A nice park we found on our way to Colosseum. Lots of trees so you could relax in the shade for a while.

Always a favorite destination for sport and cultural activities, the area is rich in species of trees and shrubs of the Mediterranean environment and area.
Oaks, poplars, magnolias, olive trees and maples are widespread, while the specimens of cherry laurel, ligustrum and conifers belonging to the most important species and varieties are rarer.
Famous is 'the Japan Walk', which, designed as for the general layout and for its paths by Raffaele de Vico as a whole with the gardens of the lake, it was completed with the massive planting of sakura trees, cherry blossoms donated by the city of Tokyo.
Located between the Eni Palace and the Japanese cherry trees, it has become the green lung of the EUR, complete with a navigable lake.
It is a beautiful park, one of the most beautiful in Rome, where you can go for a run, feel immersed in the green or just for a walk.
Among some of the surprises of the Park is a group of bronze statues, called 'The Vessel of the Revolution' by the Italian artist Ugo Attardi.
This lovely group is located on the side of a hill, and precisely along Via Cristoforo Colombo, towards the sea, at the height of the famous restaurant "Il Fungo".
Two of the three main sculptures on the vessel look towards an imaginary horizon, towards the spectator who often passes unaware and distracted on via Cristoforo Colombo.
A third sculpture, placed in an orthogonal direction with respect to the other two, shows the side to the viewer and maternally looks at a strange little creature lying in front of him.
What is not very clear is the choice of 'enclosing' the "vessel" in a rectangular flower-bed.
Probably if the Italian sculptor Attardi were still alive it would be interesting to know what he would think about the installation.
If you are in the area and you are walking in the Central Park of the Lake, why don't you go there, walk around the statues and take some nice photos?
    Recommended.

A very nice minigolf course in a park. The minigolf course is excellent and approved by the World Minigolf Federation. Access to a bar (toasts, panninis, coffee, sodas, water and so on) and toilets. A very good playground for children in the area. Farms with different animals nearby - you are on the countryside in Rome.

Very nice park with a little shabby fountains. It can use a little bit cleaning, but park itself is very beautiful and comfortable to have a picknic or sit on the bench and read a book. Many dog owners with their pets.

Pretty place to stop near our hotel and look at the view. Some headless statues and orange trees. Could be nice for a picnic in the summer

We thought this might be too far out from
the centre. However there is an easy bus (don't take a taxi) taking you to the bottom. Then enjoy a great walk up to the top where you can enjoy a drink or even dinner at the really friendly and reasonably priced cafe restaurant. The views are quite spectacular.
