I thought there would be loads of swimming pools in such a hot city but my initial research came up with 3 options and all had catches - too expensive, dirty water etc..

We landed on Piscina delle Rose (blue metro line EUR Palasport circa 18mins from termini) and then used google maps directions to get from metro to the club (circa 5mins). The staff spoke good English and it cost 8 euros per person for 1.5 hours (+5 euros if you wanted a sun lounger).

Please note you should purchase a small lock for the locker room and a swimming hat to save some cash. There is a small pool bar with cold drinks including beers plus pizzas etc..open till 7pm weekdays and later on weekends.

The water was clear. The pool had multiple lifeguards. The pool is Olympic size - massive. With lot's of lane swimming for swimming club members and also a big area for general swim play.

Yes it is a bit expensive but if you enjoy time by the pool in hot conditions I would recommend.

This is a beautiful place TO VISIT, but I would DISSUADE anyone to think of swimming here on a regular basis. It is almost as if they don’t want people to swim here. The secretarial staff is very slow and impolite. The bar workers are mean. Swimmers are not allowed to use fins or flippers after a certain time. It is EXPENSIVE and closed on Sundays and all of August with very limited swim times. No one smiles. Toxic environment. Think thrice before subscribing here!

I went to the Wellness Town swimming pool with my children on Saturday. It is not a swimming pool to play with balls and make mess. There are lines to swim and an area for aqua gym that starts every hour. Another area for children to play. There are chairs and beach umbrellas. Hot showers, hair dressers. I will go back soon so spend a relaxing day at the swimming pool.

I'm a first year college student at LUISS. I came to Rome in Sept. 23' and began the search for the best gym. I was looking for a clean, various up-date machines, sauna, steam and pool. Dabliu fulfills these and much more. Amazingly pleasant staff, yoga, a masseuse, pilates classes, pool-workouts and boxing. The age range varies tremendously and Dabliu is a top-tier option for anyone looking to get in top-tier shape!

I was thrilled to learn that the Italian Open would be on when my daughter and I were planning to be in Rome and planned to attend a day session on May 11th. Having previously attended Roland Garros with a grounds pass and sitting to watch several matches and training sessions with top 10 players, I envisioned a similar rewarding experience. However, in Rome, this was not to be. Before leaving home, I tried 3 times via email to get information from customer service and each time I was directed back to the official website which did not provide the information I sought including if grounds passes could be secured in advance. In fact, it said quite emphatically that grounds passes could not be purchased online and must be purchased on the day at the grounds.
We arrived at 10:30 on the morning of May 11 and proceeded to queue in the only line we saw going towards the gates - no signage, no person directing. We stood in the hot sun for nearly an hour, being crushed and squeezed out by hundreds of people before arriving at the gate only to be told that this line was for ticket holders. Did I mention that my daughter is pregnant? We were directed to a building and stood in line there only to be told that this was the courtesy office for people who were getting complimentary tickets. The clerk advised that the easiest way to get tickets was to go online! So we stood in that building for nearly an hour and despite my daughter being very tech savvy, we were unable to complete a transaction online. This was after 3 attempts, assistance from the clerk, and extra data roaming charges were incurred. We were then directed to a ticket office which was another several hundred metres away and waited in the heat and the line yet again to finally get our passes - approximately $150 CAD. By this time it was 1:00 and the grounds and all courts were over-crowded so we had to stand 10 people deep - each of us is just a little over 5 feet tall so we could see nothing. Security people were stationed at half the entrances to the iconic Pietrangeli court and were allowing a crush of about 25 of the most aggressive people to squeeze in every 10 minutes; the other half of the entrances were also guarded and used as exits. Again, once we were admitted, we could not get anywhere near the court to view the match. It wasn’t even pleasurable to stroll the grounds because it was so congested everywhere. Eventually, we found a back court where we could actually sit and got to watch 2 local women ranked over 500 in the world doing a practise session. By this point, we had been at the site for more than 4 hours, had paid $150, and had seen nothing. We left in disgust with the total lack of organization for what is a 1000-level tournament and ought to be far better managed.
If you plan to attend in the future, just be aware that it may be a very disappointing and frustrating experience.
