- Bob JSouthport, NC919 contributionsFirst, this site is much larger that expected and they’re still excavating more buildings. They’ve just opened a new museum near the exit which is a must see. I highly suggest going in with a guide. We had an Italian guide who took us through a history lesson and showed us some highlights. You can easily get lost on your own. The site is very open to the sun and it gets hot, so be forewarned. - Seeking True QualityEurope3,006 contributionsWe visited the larger of the two theatres, which are located next to each other, in the Insula 7 of the Regio VIII, on the Via Stabiana.
The Teatro Grande was built in the II. century BC. It was heavily damaged during the eruption in 79 AD, only a relatively small portion of the auditorium is original (the white stones), the rest is a reconstruction. Nevertheless, it is a big theatre for 5000 spectators, showing us that in ancient time people loved to watch comedies and tragedies in a theatre.

Very impressing roman bath with areas which had different temperature baths from cold to hot with an advanced heating and water piping system. We cannot recommend him enough. The words cannot describe those things there .
Emotional city .
Naples is a city that have amazing buildings and very friendly people ( not all like everywhere but the most of them )
The food is great and all the palazzos ( palaces) fantastic .
The port and the vibes also nice.
The products like the fresh mozzarella or espresso that you will find there unique.
Unforgettable holidays .

He was really good at making it interesting for my 11 year old son. If you're sick of commercial el cheapo tour guides rushing around than
Rafaelle is the man for you !  He is a highly qualified scholar and
extremely passionate . He lives the tour and makes you live back in
time with every relic and artefact coming alive as well . I felt the
energies and the beautiful sensational chaos that Pompeii once was .
Rafaelle makes you live through the various emotions of the city based
on historical and impressionist context . He made me sad in one street
and curious in another . I felt the Pompeiin's pain and their last
moans in their last moments . It was very existential and yet very
nihilistic . I didn't even know what wonders Naples offered . Rafaelle
introduced me to true raw unsolicited Italy . If you're a Purist and
looking for best bang for buck ....I highly recommend you go with
Rafaelle even if you have to wait a bit . Thanks Mate from Down Under

Our guide, Francesca, was passionate and knowledgeable about the history of Pompeii and the excavations. Over the course of 2.5 hours, Francesca gave us enough information to be comfortable returning to Pompeii in the future without a guide, able to identify the uses of unmarked buildings on our own. Pompeii is such a treasure but it's so extensive and it would be hard to have a broad understanding of what you're seeing without someone to help. Francesca did a great job. - Adam S8 contributionsOur trip to Pompei today was excellent!!!! Francesco made our day memorable beyond words. His knowledge and understanding of the site was amazing. He kept it interesting for both the adults and my 13 year old children and answered all our questions. The pace of the day was perfect...not too rushed or not too slow. I would definitely recommend Francesco as a guide!
