This Catholic cathedral is dedicated to St James & St. Philip & is located just off the Corso Italia.
Although it is more of a church than a cathedral, it is nonetheless very beautiful and very spiritual. Rebuilt in the Romanesque style, you can admire the exquisite paintings and architecture in relative peace and quiet. If you like this sort of experience I recommend a visit.

I visited the Marina Grande "on spec", after a busy Saturday morning visiting Pompei.

I'm glad that I did, because I had the opportunity to see a "touching" Italian Wedding and the beautiful, small church that it was being held in.

I visited it another day also - as I didn't want to intrude on the privacy of a wedding.

The church is definitely worth a visit when in Marina Grande. The ceiling paintings and the inside architecture are wonderful.

A quiet spot - for contemplation - amongst the business and commercialism of the Marina.

    Recommended.

This cathedral can be easily found whilst walking around the quaint town of Sorrento. The architecture is stunning and the painted ceiling is beautiful. The inlaid marquetry door is lovely. So much character and the atmosphere is so peaceful and tranquil. It really is a beautiful special place. There is no admission charge

Whilst walking through the main streets of Sorrento, we came upon this church by chance.
It was very quiet inside, quite peaceful and still. Nice to wander around and enjoy the artwork.
Lovely paintings in an historic building.

A very simple and beautiful old church that is not currently being used as a place of worship. Free entry and pretty easy to find

Sorrento is my birthplace, and of all its churches, this is my favorite. When we visit, I always make time to stop in. They never celebrate Mass here, as there aren't enough priests, but it is so worth stopping in.! Aside from the incredible Lady of Sorrows, they showcase an antique Neapolitan Nativity set which is the hallmark of Christmas celebrations in this area. The church is centrally located in the old market area, with shops and cafes, so plenty to do all around when you stop to see it. Enjoy!!

Nice comforting music playing in this very small church. It’s towards the end of the main shopping road. Worth a few minutes to stop in.

The Church of the SS Annunziata is an old but historic church. We did not manage to get much information, but it seems it has been at this place for many centuries, with some facelifts over time. It is not a great building when viewed from the outside, but once inside you get a different picture. It is in a quieter part of Sorrento, away from all the hassle and bustle of the centre of the city, in a lovely public square, where you can sit and relax awhile. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants, and other types of shops around. Worth a visit if you happen to be in the area.

Chiesa Santa Maria del Soccorso is a pretty little church tucked away in a corner of the busy ferry port of Marina Piccola, easily missed. As with all churches in this part of Italy, it has a highly ornate altar and statues.
