    We went on Gaetano’s tour and it was excellent. He has great knowledge of Matera and brought its history to life. We really appreciated this tour and learnt a lot. Highly recommended!

    Beyond Expectations
    Gabrielle Fortunato is the best tour guide I have ever had. He has wonderful pictures on Facebook. Take a look. I booked the solo tour “Charming Exclusive Customized tours with your real Apulian friend” for a day long tour to San Giovanni Rotondo to visit Saint Padre Pio’s shrine and Mont San Angelo to visit Saint Michael’s shrine. I never could have Imagined what a wonderful experience it would be. Gabry was very, very knowledgeable.
    He picked me up at my hotel in Trani, drove us expertly and safely to both places and returned me to my hotel in Bari in the early evening. We spent over nine wonderful hours together with Gabry explaining the sites during the entire time. He went way beyond what was expected and actually gained entry for us into an area normally closed to tourist. It was a miracle that I was able to have a very moving and spiritual experience with St Padre Pio thanks to Gabry. I was able to sit in Padre Pio’s chair and pray in the private chapel inside the Covent Cloister where he lived, and where the Friars still live today. I was able to spend time in his cell (room) in which Padre Pio Lived and where he was pierced and bleeding from the five deep wounds of the Stigmata, the same wounds Jesus received on the Cross. I feel so blessed to have had these opportunities.
    During it all Gabry was always kind, caring and attentive. As a matter of fact, once I had booked the tour, he contacted me to make sure he knew everything I wanted to to do. We kept in touch on WhatsApp and updated until the day of the tour and even after. I really do feel he is my friend in Apuglia and would highly recommend contacting Gabrielle for any touring you would like to do in Apuglia. You won’t be disappointed. After seeing all of his excellent reviews, I specifically asked for him when I booked the tour. Any future trip to Apuglia will include a tour with Gabrielle.

    A wonderful tour and a wonderful guide!
    I highly recommend this tour experience! Giorgio was our guide, and he was funny and kind and very knowledgeable. We aren't great with all the steps and climbing, so he took us at a pace that worked well for us. His knowledge of the area and its history is extensive. We learned a lot.

    A great day out. Magnificent Matera!
    Had a fantastic day out, facilitated by the delightful and informative Enzo. Alberobello and especially Matera are not easy to get to by public transport, so I was glad to find Enzo’s tour on Tripadvisor. A lucky find! It was a real revelation to see all the beautiful countryside between Bari and Matera. Enzo preferred the longer scenic drive to the motorway and he was flexible and happy to arrange the day out as required by myself and my fellow travellers.

    Enzo suggested a couple of hours to explore the weird Trulli houses in Alberobello and a longer time in Matera - his advice was spot on - Alberobello is fascinating but Matera is an incredible place, lovely piazzas, churches, places to eat & drink and of course the Sassi cave houses. The views of this unique city were stunning even on a cloudy day.

    Enzo had a lot of local knowledge but did not overwhelm us with information, which was a welcome approach which suited my needs - I prefer to find out about what interests me rather than be bombarded by a lecture. So I appreciated his laid back approach and we were left to discover things on our own and to enjoy the visits at our own pace. It was a memorable day out thanks to Enzo’s advice and great driving. Money well spent.

    Great way to see Matera without a lot of walking
    Great way to see Matera and the Sassi. Vito was knowledgeable and showed us things we would have seen on our own. Take the two hour tour.

    Once in a lifetime day! I had an amazing tour. We basically had the whole region to ourselves despite the beautiful weather and mind blowing views. the guide was very charming, funny, and extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the sites and about Puglia in general. The view of the trulli houses nestled amongst the olive trees as you zip across the turquoise ocean backed countryside is well with the cost of the tour. I would absolutely recommend this tour during any stay in Puglia.

    The best tour in Matera, thanks to Benedetto,our passionate and high expert guide we have enjoyed the unique history of this city and understand culture and past and today Matera life. 3/4 hours spent, to see the best view points, go up and down into the Sassi , visit an old cave house, taste the specialties of Matera.
    Best investments to know the city,suggest to do this tour when you arrive,then you will discover the rest by yourself.

    Beautiful places to visit
    Visiting two interesting places that make it a very unique tour.

    Matera is a must town to go. Alberobello is an enchanted place stop by the time, but rich in history and amazing beauty.

    Based on my experience and the comments of the other passengers in our tour, I would started earlier, may be by 8:30am and add time for lunch and additional time in both stops. Leaving at 10:00am and be back at 3:30pm is a run, run, run time to enjoy it.

    Matera Tour Service
    Our guide was very knowledgeable of the history of Matera and spoke English very well. There are 45 and 90 minute tours. We would recommend the 90 min tour because there is so much to see and to talk about with the tour guide. Also, time needed to take photos.

    Worthwhile!
    We enjoyed our trip and found it a great way to see Matera. We took the "deluxe tour" and left the city to see some caves. If you have a hard time walking on uneven surfaces this is a great solution!
