I flew BA, with a status in Japan Airlines, which enabled me to use this lounge.
The food and drink, even chocolate were fine. Staff are also nice (generally people in Madrid were all nice, though).

Really not up to premium lounge standards. We were here between 7 and 9 AM. It's big and bright and reasonably comfortable. There was bread that wasn't not too bad, very average cheese and ham, yogurt, fruit, typical blah lounge stuff, but no hot food at all. Basic selection of self-serve alcohol. Small restrooms with a big line for the ladies'. Used plates and such sat for a very long time before being cleared from tables. Terrace outside had lots of wet ashtrays with cigarette butts floating in them. Overall, it's better than sitting out in the terminal somewhere, but if I paid extra to get in here, then I'd be disappointed.

Very disappointing lounge. The quality of food offered is very poor. Pre-packaged sandwiches on white very processed bread, like those you would get at a filling station. Spanish omelette which was so dry that it broke up when you tried to put it on the plate, Pizza that was cooked from frozen, selection of processed meats and cheeses, processed breads and pastries, nuts, crisps and olives (even the olives had dried out). Plenty alcohol and fizzy sugary drinks. The people at AENA really need to visit lounges offered by other companies to see how it's done to offer customers a good experience. I travel from Madrid frequently and always dread using the lounges there, because I always walk away from there disappointed and dissatisfied. Why can't they offer typical food produced in Spain, like lounges in other countries, who are proud to offer food that their country is known for?
