This is the most important avenue in Madrid. It has many landmarks and historical places. I really like walking around the Castellana and observe the beautiful buildings. There are also many embassies, bars, restaurants, and very nice squares.

Monumento a Don Blas de Lezo y Olavarrieta is located in Plaza de Colon which has quite a bit of historical interest. It has several points of interest in it, and several monuments like this one. The most interesting thing about this monument is the background of the man standing on top of the rock! He was a military personality who participated in a number of naval battles during which he suffered several life threatening wounds. He lost his left eye and leg, and suffered continuing immobility to his right arm for some time! He probably suffered other injuries too, all of which made him quite famous. It is amazing he managed to continue in his chosen career for such a long time, but he did become well known as a symbol of courage and bravery in Spanish history. This area is worth a visit, as it has such a wealth of history, and it is a lovely spot as well.

Yes it’s big street central to Madrid, but really, it’s own Tripadvisor page? What I can say is that it has an interesting mix of apartments, offices, shops and restaurants. Several restaurants seems to be really very busy and others looked as though they were all but closed. Traffic is manic here but plenty of pedestrian road crossings

Not many visitors seem to make it here. This area has many spectacular buildings located between the rear of The Prado and then beautiful new formal gardens on the west side of the Park Retiro.

Francisco de Quevedo, Spanish writer and poet used this narrow street and a particular doorway to urinate nightly after visiting local bars. The frustrated owner put up a cross and a sign saying, "Don't pee where there is a cross.". Quevedo responded with "You do not place a cross where you pee" and continued urinating.

It is one of the two shortest streets in the historic center of the capital of Spain. Calle de Madrid is a very short street ,it joins the Duque de Najera street with the Plaza de la Villa. It is rather passage, more than a street, and the most distinctive feature is the arch above it. In the early 20th century, two architects, Bellido and Luis Gonzalez, did some restoration work on Casa de Cisneros. They also created an arched passageway that connects between Casa de Cisneros and Casa de la Villa.

One of the best districts in my opinion in Madrid is Las Salesas District.
This area that runs alongside Paseo De Recoletos and is sandwiched between Chueca District and Salamanca District, its a district famous for its international shopping outlets but for me I love the pubs, bars, cafe's and restaurants in this area and the amazing architecture, I love it here, in fact it's were I tend to stay on any holiday I take to this most beautiful of city's, transport links to other area's of the city are amazing ,it's just an awesome area to explore if you're planning a holiday to Madrid.
