Our tour guide, Arantxa, made our tapas and flamenco tour both informative and fun! As a true Madrileño and a chef, she had deep and broad knowledge of her city, food and the flamenco culture. We really enjoyed having a short introduction to flamenco by firs visiting a shop that sells authentic flamenco dresses, shoes, etc. The jamon and cheese tapas at a family owned shop was delicious, and of course the visit to the Tablaolas Carboneras was fantastic and we had seats very close to the stage. Arantxa taught us the proper etiquette during a flamenco show so we didn't embarrass ourselves and did not disturb the performers' concentration. (For example, don't try clapping along to the music, it is far more complex than you think!) Of course we also learned about the neighbourhood as we walked around the historic centre.
I highly recommend this tour as an introduction to flamenco - guitar, voice and dance - and sampling some typical tapas. Thanks, Arantxa!
