What travelers are saying
- ilj1006Sacramento, CA2 contributionsI'm a big fan of Rioja wines, and Marqués de Murrieta holds the top spot on my list.
Whenever I fall in love with a wine collection, I make it a point to visit the estate, though there have been times when the experience didn’t quite live up to my expectations.
For my visit to Murrieta, I made a reservation for the tour as well as the bar, so I could enjoy Ygay, Dalmau, or Capellanía on site. Thankfully, my visit to Murrieta was nothing short of exceptional!
The entire experience, guided by Natalia, was absolutely fabulous. The estate itself is stunning—perfectly blending tradition with modernity—and is impeccably organized and maintained. Natalia’s knowledge about Murrieta, their wines, and the Rioja region as a whole was truly impressive. Her passion for wine and pride in working at Murrieta were palpable, which reassured me that my admiration for the estate was well-placed. In fact, it made me feel even prouder to be a devoted Murrieta fan.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Murrieta for their unwavering focus on quality. I’ll continue to be a loyal supporter and look forward to enjoying their incredible wines for years to come.Written December 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Prices are cheap to decent. Fantastic spot to visit!Written October 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tracy A3 contributionsWonderful experience on the making of wine all the way from the old to the new ways. Our guide was very informative, we have visisted many bodegas around the world, and we still were able to learn a thing or two, as for the wine a very enjoyable wine for the budget conscious.Written April 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jon R5 contributionsTaking my guests from Off Road & Overland Adventures Ltd to Campo Viejo at least once a year I have to say, this year's tour has been even better than past years. Joana, our guild was absolutely amazing and showed us things that I had not seen on previous tours and for that this deserves a 5* review as being a travel guide myself I had moments of surprise like my guests do and got that amazed 1st time feeling all over again.
The tasting after the tour is fantastic and Joana really did know her stuff as she found us wines that were not on the shelf as well as guiding us through new tastes.
We will see you in 2025.Written October 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Unlike some of the bigger wineries that provide quite repetitive and similar tastings, Arizcuren proves a highly personalised experience. Having a tasting with Fernando was like getting to chat with a really knowledgeable friend. We understood much more about the important of individual identity expressed through the vineyard….and did I say the wine was excellent!!!Written November 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kay SOtford, UK87 contributionsWe were greeted by Jesús on arrival, such a lovely, friendly, passionate and knowledgable guy.
On to the wine tastings and learning about smells and flavours. We loved this, it was fun and unpretentious, really enjoyed the paper game and learnt a lot about wine.
The tour was fabulous, the concept of the winery being a temple was wonderful, church candles and stain glass windows with incredible artwork and sculptures was an absolute delight.
We totally loved the barrel room, the smell of the wine and the beauty of the room will stay with me for some time.
Thank you to Jesús for a brilliant day, you made it personal and super friendly without being stuffy and pretentious. It is obvious how much you love your job, the Ontañón family and your passion for wine.Written April 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We had not made a reservation but felt very welcomed & Henrique let us taste the wines to compare. He was very friendly & did not rush the experience. We purchased some excellent wines at very reasonable prices. A definite must if you are in the area.Written September 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- David MPortland, OR320 contributionsThis is the place to be for pintxos and wine in Logrono, in my opinion. Not quite as crowded as Calle Laurel, greater variety of options-- something for every taste-- and top quality food and drink. Vendors are friendly, customers are happy, the street is alive. In many ways, this is Spain at its best.
This isn't a large area, and you don't go here to be "seen." It was recommended to me by a resident as the least likely to aim to specifically cater to tourists, and I believe it. Caracoles (small snails) and anchovies with different combinations that we are not used to seeing (actually, we aren't much used to seeing anchovies sold at all!) are for sale on the street, as well as standby bacalao and iberico and ternera.
This review is making me hungry! I'm going to make a pintxo for myself now.Written September 3, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This made it extra special and the young lady who showed us round was charming, informative and had perfect English as she herself is half English. I am amazed at how different the bodegas are. This one has very impressive architecture, a magical crane, huge amounts of wine in bottles, barrels etc. Well worth a visit!Written August 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeff KPittsburgh, PA2,373 contributionsThis is a nice museum that covers 3 floors. I liked the art work a lot. There were also exhibits on farming, winery tools and other things. Free admission and the women taking tickets were very nice.
