Absolutely stunning cathedral, housing the remains of St. Eulalia, patron Saint of Barcelona.
You could spend hours wandering this massive cathedral, with around 40 chapels. The details are amazing.
Look for all the unusual gargoyles. I even spotted a snail stop on of the cathedral rooftop tower spires, which you may reach via elevator. The elevator was somewhat hard to locate; thus causing us to have very little time left to go up. We were told we had 5 minutes. Again, well worth the trip up.
We were asked to pay an additional fee to by a small scarf to cover shoulders. Also charged to get in, which I never agree with as this is a church, but well worth exploring.
Be aware that the area is overrun by tourists (which I was guilty of being) and there are obnoxious clowns in front that hand children balloons without parent consent. This causes such confusion and upsets the children. I actually thought it might be part of a pickpocket scheme. Then the children are upset bc the church does not want the balloons brought inside.
There are 13 geese running around in an inner cloister area, representing the 13 years of the tortured martyrs life.
The history of the place and time frame are fascinating.
