If you like history, what's not to like. We enjoyed the gothic quarter just walking around and admiring the architecture. The cathedral was the center point with gargoyle protection abundant.

Great Market on the Ramblas in Barcelona.
Very very busy so take care of your belongings.
Loads of stalls selling produce, food & drink and lots of things in between.
There’s a toilet at one end, gets very busy and costs one euro to get through the turnstile.
Lots of bars / restaurants around the market, I would say probably a better place to grab something to eat rather than in the market itself, inside was very busy and a little overpriced where as the bars / restaurants were a little less packed and offered a wide range of tapas and meals. Plenty of inside stalls though selling a wide range of snacks.
Best Spanish market I have visited other than Malaga.

The event begins at 9.30 p.m. and the venue fills up by 9 o'clock. Our arrival at 8:30 gave us excellent viewing locations. It lasts for an hour and is free. It was amazing during the thirty minutes that we watched it.

This is a huge old church in the city. It’s in the historic area and it’s really beautiful. It’s great that it’s still there and shows how much money the church had back then.

It's difficult to tell since there are so many, one of which is in Madrid, but it's a wonderful avenue with excellent stores, eateries, and cafés. Extremely alternative and bohemian. minimal traffic as well (for Barcelona).

Las Ramblas is a pedestrian-only street that is great to visit and experience. With so many food options and shopping options you cant go wrong. Plus it is close to other monuments and historical sites that you can walk to all in one day and enjoy. Love all the side streets you can take and go through that are off of Las Ramblas. Also you can take metro and get off at one of the stops that are there.

I know you will read about watching out for pick pockets and all that but truthfully you do that no matter where you go and travel. Out of all the times visiting and walking through the Las Ramblas with my family not once did we experience any of that or not feel safe, not saying it does not happen but we did not. I will definitely come and visit Las Ramblas when back in Barcelona and experience it a lot more.

Absolutely stunning cathedral, housing the remains of St. Eulalia, patron Saint of Barcelona.

You could spend hours wandering this massive cathedral, with around 40 chapels. The details are amazing.

Look for all the unusual gargoyles. I even spotted a snail stop on of the cathedral rooftop tower spires, which you may reach via elevator. The elevator was somewhat hard to locate; thus causing us to have very little time left to go up. We were told we had 5 minutes. Again, well worth the trip up.

We were asked to pay an additional fee to by a small scarf to cover shoulders. Also charged to get in, which I never agree with as this is a church, but well worth exploring.

Be aware that the area is overrun by tourists (which I was guilty of being) and there are obnoxious clowns in front that hand children balloons without parent consent. This causes such confusion and upsets the children. I actually thought it might be part of a pickpocket scheme. Then the children are upset bc the church does not want the balloons brought inside.

There are 13 geese running around in an inner cloister area, representing the 13 years of the tortured martyrs life.

The history of the place and time frame are fascinating.

Beautiful parc ,near the Arc of Triomf in Barcelona. The Parc de la Ciutadella is a green oasis in the city of Barcelona. You can take long walks ,have a picnic or take a boat on the lake.

In the Parc de la Ciutadella, there are many attractions: the zoo, the Catalan Parliament.

I'd say this is the place to come for views of Barcelona, much better for views than Park Guell. It's absolutely huge and there are a lot of roads going through it. We headed for the cable car which we took up to the castle. We enjoyed the cable car but it's a fairly short ride and cost 60 euros for 4 of us which we thought was quite expensive. Consequently we didn't go into the castle at the top as that would have been about another 45 euros.

The views over the sea and the city are incredible though, well worth a visit.

Great time at the beach. The sellers are a little pushy so if you’re looking to just relax you probably will not find it. The mojito to go is great but don’t buy the mobile massage.

El Born is sandwiched between La Ribera to the north and Barceloneta to the south with Via Laietana as its border with the Gothic district to the west. Our hotel was on Via Laietana so we explored it most days and nights especially as, although it has a reputation for art galleries, pricey boutiques and shoe shops it is also home to several decent small traditional tapas bars and a couple of the cities burgeoning craft beer bars. It’s a maze of narrow roads and interconnecting alley ways opening up to the occasional squares, such as the one that houses the impressive Basílica de Santa Maria del Mar. For me, outside of a couple of quirky art galleries I didn’t really pick up on the expensive shops side, but certainly more the bars and restaurants. For those into craft beer DIECI8 Bar and the fairly recently opened Barna Brew Born are two craft beer bars well worth searching out. And there are several authentic tapas bars which are frequented by the locals and tourists alike.
I found it a perfectly safe area to explore both during the day and at night, but like various other areas of Barcelona where tourists congregate pickpockets and scammers work here. So just have your wits about you and your possessions tucked away and you will be fine.
The El Born district technically stretches east far enough to include the Parc de la Ciutadella which is a fantastic green space and a pleasant area to stroll when the sun is out for a contrast to the narrow streets of the rest of the El Born district.

Our taxi deposited us here to begin our morning exploration of Montjuic, and it did not disappoint. The center is occupied by an impressive fountain, while the ring around the traffic circle is surrounded by structures that are noteworthy in their own rights.

Worth navigating your way here and best arriving by funicular. Get a ticket to use the lift which will take you to the highest point where the views are fabulous. The theme park was closed so less screeching kids. Inside the church it’s impressive.

Our family of two adults, a 9 year old and a 7 year old visited Barcelona for 3 days in July. We stayed in a hotel about 3 minutes walk away from the square (see separate review).

We enjoyed walking through the square many times and shopped and ate in the various establishments around the square - see my separate reviews.

This is also where we took our hop on hop off bus which was handy for getting around and seeing this lovely city.

We stayed for 3 nights and could not fault this hotel. The staff were friendly & very helpful. The whole hotel was spotless. The breakfast selection was adequate. One thing that I feel the rooms could do with is a fridge. It was very warm when we were there but we had nowhere to keep our water cool.
