Absolutely amazing - do not miss a visit to this wonderful Basilica, the inside is unbelievably beautiful, the outside is like a sandcastle, unique in every way

    Yes, it gets crowded.
Yes, upgraded tickets cost more money.

If you plan ahead and are willing and/or able to purchase upgraded tickets, your experience should be significantly better than the experiences recounted in many of the reviews. If you want to avoid stupidly long lines and a staff that is ridiculously overworked, book 9:00 tickets and arrive at 8:30. It is likely you’ll still stand in a line, but it won’t be like the lines in late afternoon. Also, you should be entering on time and the there won't be people lingering from previous entry times.

If you are considering the silver ticket, do yourself a favor and just spend two more euros to get the gold ticket. In either case, the augmented reality tablet is a cool feature that adds depth to the experience beyond what the audioguide can provide and the concierge room is pretty cool too. With the gold ticket, the private residence, FastPass, flexible scheduling, and free cancellation are well worth the two extra euros.

As far as the actual house goes, it is simply amazing. Being able to see up close what Gaudí created is worth it, even if you have no choice but to settle for a blue ticket during a crowded time. There is something almost soothing in the lack of straight lines and sharp corners, creating a feeling that is so very different than what most experience in everyday life. Be sure to spend some time on the roof to take in the views of Barcelona. Also, as an addd bonus, take a good look at the facade either before entering or exiting. There are so many details to be found there, but many miss them because they are being hurried into or out of the house.

At the risk of being repetitive, go early! Your experience will likely be vastly superior to those later in the day.

Absolutely beautiful interior. We purchased tickets for a performance - go early to tour interior. Bar & snacks available inside.

This is one of the superb Mondernista buildings, originally apartments. Very unusual undulating design. It's on everyone's bus tour and walking tour, so be prepared for big crowds. But since it is located on the wide Passeig, you can step back and get a good perspective and a good photo.

I booked the tour through GetYourGuide for 10 euros. The young guide was very knowledgeable. Would not recommend for people with limited mobility - there are lots of stairs. The cathedral is beautiful and well worth a visit. Also, read Ildefonso Falcones' book "La Cathedral del Mar" for some background info.

We did not plan to visit Casa Vicens but we had to cancel Park Guell due to a taxi strike. We were not disappointed. The building is utterly stunning. It is out of the way but worth the trip. Not as crowded as Battlo and some other Gaudi buildings and the workers were friendly. There is a nice cafe. Worthwhile if you can fit it in.

Very interesting home and building. I love Gaudi and his brilliance and this was a great example of his work and detailing.

We explored this fabulous place independently. The experience was outstanding. The architecture was impressive and the tile work, especially on the ceilings is a real standout. It's a short walk from Sagrada Familia and well worth the time.

Cool, small museum! Didn’t know anything about Miro before and enjoyed seeing his art. Would recommend for art lovers!

We went specifically to visit the Sorolla exhibit, which was wonderful. It had a section on the artist's life and work, another section where you can create your own art work and have your "portrait " done, an immersive area surrounded by Sorolla's work, and finally a virtual experience. Well worth the visit.

We did not visit the house, that is a separate ticket. But we did go by the peaceful Cafe on the patio, don't need a ticket for that and it is the perfect place to relax and get away from the crowds in Paseo de Gracia. There are also some tables inside in what it used to be the kitchen, and a nice gift shop.

Don't miss the beautiful staircase and stained glass in the entrance way. Again, no need to buy a ticket to see that, but the rest of the house must be beautiful as well.

This is where you will find the special architecture that the city is known for. This district is very large and consists of several distinct areas. Developed mostly in the 19th and 20th Centuries, the architects had a great time designing apartment buildings and institutions. Lots of food and cafes. Get a book that has a walking tour to find the best buildings.

What an amazing place. Beautiful and interesting, with the added bonus that it was almost empty. Well worth hopping off the bus to visit - only €5 entrance fee.

One of the most dramatic Modernista buildings in BCN. We walked slowly by, lingering to take photos. You can get a good shot as this one is located on the broad Passeig.

First, I was very critical of the Caixa Forum in Barcelona, but when we arrived it convinced me to be a super decision!

This has only been open for a few years and is not as well known as other Gaudi works. Worth a visit if you have time. A little out of the way. We love castles and this fit the bill. Nice grounds and not crowded. The view from the room is wonderful.
