The museum is lovely but the best part is definitely the tasting for 3.50 You get a great selection of cheeses with nuts and bread and the best jam on earth, with a glass of fantastic wine that they help you pick...
But the Museo del Queso Manchego is a very different experience!! Run by a wonderful family, the "museum" is brief and informative -- just a couple of rooms -- and then you can have a lovely cheese and wine tastin...

While the Alcazar is the site of the historical fortress of Toledo the current building is quite modern having been totally rebuilt after being destroyed during the 1930s Spanish Civil War.

Hidden behind Plaza de Zocodover (thru the arch, down the steps, pass the statue of Cervantes, continue straight 1/2 block, look to your left) This is an exceptionally beautiful museum.

We came to Toledo on a full day tour from Madrid knowing the city, a virtual "open air" museum, was UNESCO World Heritage treasure, and the El Greco masterpiece found here alone justifies the trip.
The highlight of this small church is El Greco's 'The Burial of the Count of Orgaz' which is an incredible masterpiece.

A fantastic museum with an enormous collection all about the history of war, with additional collections from Spanish history all housed in a historically significant building.
However, despite the rush we were very impressed with the exhibits and the museum's thorough coverage of Spanish military history, from the Moorish influence to the Spanish Civil War, including a death mask of Fra...

This is a wonderful place to visit for art-lovers, much less crowded than the other art galleries - a lovely garden, and it gives the visitor a great insight to El Greco's life in Toledo.
In the beginning we watched an informative video about his life and work and then toured the Museum which includes restored rooms giving a vivid picture of life in Toledo in the 16th century as well as some of the...

I really loved this collection of architectural, daily life, funerary and religious artifacts and felt like it was the first museum I had seen that gave me a feel for the Visigothic place in history.
The museum has an excellent archaeological collection from the 6, 7 and 8th centuries of the historic Visgoths civilisation.

The chapel and sacristy were lovely, with El Greco paintings, but the 16th century pharmacy - totally preserved - and the stunning archives in the main hospital were breathtaking.
You can wander round the cloisters and church on your own but for a couple of euros extra, the guided tour of the pharmacy and hospital archives is well worth it!

We bought some delicious handmade marzipan from one of the friendly nuns.
We loved everything about this gem of a hotel & city of Antigua.

Apart from tapestries there are many clerical vestments and some unbelievable silver plus a huge memorial which is only 19th century but is quite something to see.
The Maundy Thursday Monument (Monumento de Jueves Santo) statuest and pieces that were moved to the stairway entrance of the Toledo Cathedral back in the day are scattered about the place but there is a detailed e...

Pretty cheap, and relatively small but packed full of information and real-life instruments used throughout history.
The artifacts that are inside the cabinets are original.

Located in an old monastery, this artisans shop is a real off-the-beaten-path find.
Great shop; educational, fun, and inspiring.
