I popped in here on my way to the old town centre and helped myself to a very useful free map and guide to the town.

I always call in when I visit to get the latest information in respect of the buses and local walks. The bus information is accurate and presented in a user friendly way for people based in Puerto de la Cruz. The walking information is less accurate ( the walk from Mirador San Pedro was CLOSED between the Hotel Maritime and Romantica due to a rockfall) even though I was told it was open. They can in their defence only pass on information they receive from the authorities. Authorities please note....MANY people come on walking holidays here especially in the less hot months. Thank you all anyway.

When in La Laguna for the first time with a guided tour, this was the first place that we visited. The architecture is very pleasing and the inner courtyard very pretty. There is also a tourist information office here, where English is spoken and you can pick up a good map of the historical centre.

Excellent information at centre and friendly cafe on site, neatly positioned under the car park.
We were provided with useful printed guides by the tourist centre staff.
Enjoyed a 2 hour walk in the forest (red route).
There are limited views on the trails.
For the best views of the surrounding countryside and El Teide go to Mirador Pico del Inglés.

In a town that certainly isn't based on Tourists this was a very helpful if not unexpected find, the staff gave us lots of ideas and suggestions for places to visit.

As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it's no surprise that San Cristobal de La Laguna would have an impressive public library in the town's historic center. This handsome conversion of a colonial building into a thoroughly modern center for learning speaks volumes about the town's character and respect for its history.
