What travelers are saying
- Gerry SDublin, Ireland2 contributionsMeet the locals at 10am mass on Sunday morning. All in traditional lingo and singing in full voice . Well worth a visitWritten February 26, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- IAN WSt Helens, UK3,371 contributionsVery imposing whitewashed walled building that dominates this part of the old town.
Entering this church, you'll be surprised by its ornate simplicity of just being a House of God,nothing ostentatious about its being.
Unusual in the fact that it has upstairs galleries for the congregation, along both sides.Written March 11, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Elderly TravellerBournemouth, UK1,254 contributionsThe stone work in La Orotava is often the black volcanic lava stone of the island. Despite this the buildings can be very attractive and this church certainly is. It’s well worth a look and lies next to the Plaza de la Constitucion where our taxi dropped us. The convent next door seems to be some sort of community centre now. Impressive architecture.Written January 23, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- steve zNashville, TN887 contributionsA plain but pretty Church. Worth a 15 minute visit. Easy to walk to and to spend a few muon quiet reflection.Written October 28, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Richard JLondon, UK1,446 contributionsDominating the town square the church picked out in the Sun draws you in. The interior with the beautifully decorated altars, remarkable given the relatively remote location.Written May 15, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Neil KLiverpool, UK610,791 contributionsMy twin brother Stephen and I were pub and bar hopping around this area of Costa Adeje when we passed this beautiful church and what a great find.
This is a beautiful church, visited quite a few churches in Tenerife but this was unusual in that it had a lovely brown coloured exterior, most of the churches I've seen in Tenerife are nearly all whitewashed buildings, its a very photogenic building, the tower is particularly eye catching, makes for some great photographic opportunities, its most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area and easy to locate along Avenida Eugenio Dominguez Alfonzo.Written December 23, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Doug MWasaga Beach, Canada618 contributionsWhile travelling thru this area stop in and see the church of our lady of Conception
This church is in a nice area shaded by trees and flowers and a Dragon treeWritten March 20, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Duncan EWitney, UK225 contributionsWith three or more full altar pieces and lots of seventeenth century artefacts, this is a fascinating and quite striking place to visit. It is unusual to go behind the main altar, yet this is where the stairs up the tower are, and the views are across the town to the sea.
Also behind the altar are the treasures of the church - vestments, sacramental objects such as siboriums, chalices and two reliquaries stand on display, along with a large silver monstrance made in Mexico.Written August 1, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Alejandro CGPuerto Del Carmen, Spain138 contributionsThis charming church located in a square that bears his name and where the La Laguna food market is located, is one of the emblematic places of the first capital of the island. Essential visit.Written July 13, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Richard JLondon, UK1,446 contributionsA simple exterior a 16th Century church with a fine rather striking altar featuring a statue of the Virgin Mary. Well kept and worth a visit.Written May 15, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- GwespyrRhyl, UK1,577 contributionsWe never went into the church but the outside elevations were attractive. Mainly white washed render with the stone work to the main entrance left exposed with looked nice in contrast.
The pavement outside was also nicely finished with pebbles as the surface - the area was kept very tidy with no litter.
The area the church is situated in is very attractive with a small park opposite and some bars and cafes adjacent. In the small park is a gazebo which I feel doubles up as a band stand and th surrounding buildings are of some age judging by the architecture.
The bell tower is also unrendered and so the stone, which I would think is local volcanic stone, sets off the white render nicely. The bell tower also has a clock set into it, so no excuse for being late!Written April 1, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Serge MLondon, UK151 contributionsThe buiding is actually half-ruined, and wrecked part is closed for visitors. Another consists of few passages and rooms on both levels, patio and church/tower. Outside is small garden, it is nice to sit several minutes by the entrance to have a rest after walking by the street. Nothing really astonishing but still nice to take a look.Written January 18, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
