Our tour was with Viajes Teide. Booked at our Hotel in El Medano. We had to get a taxi to another hotel and we were collected by minibus at 6.15 pm.
Really enjoyed the vineyard visit with home cooked meal, we had delicious soup and pork loin main with desert. Really lovely couple and staff serving and helping us taste their wine.
This took about an hour.
The tour guide was an astronomer so we received some very useful information as we travelled up the volcano. It was a long drive on very very winding roads.
We parked in a lay-by with other camper vans to have the star gazing experience. The sky was amazingly bright with stars and the astronomer used a laser light to identify the stars he was talking about.
It was very interesting and I learnt a great deal.
It was very very cold, we had taken warm clothes but I still got very cold just standing on the volcano for an hour. my suggestion would be to do one talk in Spanish and then another in English, rather than combining the talk as we all spent a lot of time in the cold listening to info in Spanish we didn’t understand.
I also think we could have had more info in the minibus.
The problem for us was the return journey. We finished the star gazing at 9.30pm and finally got back to the hotel at 11.45 pm. We didn’t get dropped back at our hotel , we had to get a taxi from a patrol station, the driver of the minibus sorted this for us, we were very grateful as it was late and we didn’t have a clue. At the end there were 4 of us left in the minibus and he put us all in a taxi.
We got back to our hotel both feeling very car sick, one passenger had vomited on the bus. It was such a long drive down the volcano and then travelling for miles to drop others at their hotels !
I don’t feel it was brilliant value as we paid 58€ each and 2 taxi journeys at 30€ total.
