- Peterb41Colchester, UK23 contributionsGreat place to go and enjoy shopping - the parking can be a challenge but worth the effort - the ice cream shop was especially enjoyable for my family!Written May 5, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - HappyGoLuckyLeiden, The Netherlands147 contributionsOverall very nice shopping mall...
The exception is the phone accessory store in the basement. The guy scams you with very high prices for low quality goods, shady discounts, and when paying he still puts higher prices than he told you. This store really makes the mall feel unsafe is an absolute scam. This store is very bad for the reputation of the shopping mall and the other stores, which are really very nice. We hope the mall management quickly takes action against this scam.
From the other stores, we can recommend the kind people, quality goods, and good prices. We visited the Intersport for various swimming goods, the supermarket is really great in its offering of foods, drinks, and various beach products. The manicure / pedicure place is clean and the staff is skilled.Written October 19, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Unfortunately we weren't as impressed this time, Mrs.B was looking for a Tankini Swimming Costume, but after what seemed like a million shops, alas no Tankini, it seemed like a lot of normal shops have been replaced by designer shops.Written May 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Intrepidtravellers_8Reigate, UK464 contributionsOur hosts recommended this market and it was fabulous. We arrived at about 9.30 and it was quite busy - there weren’t many spaces left in the car park. It was even busier when we left at about 11.00 so worth going early.
We walked all round first before returning to buy. Selection was excellent - tomatoes of many types, peppers fresher than any I’ve ever seen in England, aubergines and courgette of many shapes and sizes. Canary potatoes too. All this accompanied by goats cheese stalls and a good fishmonger and butcher, cake stalls, and herbs. I felt like Rick Stein choosing produce to cook that night!
We were a bit worried about buying meat and not refrigerating it straight away but we bought a cool bag at the fish stall which the lady filled with ice. This stayed frozen for 4 hours in the boot of our car. If you’re self catering this is a must visit. If you’re not you could still purchase a cake or two.Written November 30, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Checking in was fast and giving 3 euro per night cash for a safe was no problem. We got an apartment on the top floor a duplex one which wasn't too bad for me at 65, but could prove difficult for other seniors. No point in asking for another room as it was made quite clear this was your room as the place was fully booked. Still the apartment had all the basic necessities although decor was somewhat dated. Mind and take pool towels and a kettle (A coffee perculator is there but the kettle is a whistling on the hob sort) I was glad to take my electric travel kettle at least I got my tea in the morning before changing into grizzly bear. Please note that this place is gated and you need your room key to get passed the gates..secure site it is not, people can come into the complex through the shopping mall below and it's quite alarming that on one side of this free entrance takes you straight to the child's pool area. Plenty of shops and eateries about. Please note there is extensive building work going on and this does get noisy also the amenities are again very basic, not what is mentioned in your travel brochure. We found that the shower was tempremental and hit and miss for a warm shower and what a danger it was getting out of the bath end trying to avoid falling in a bidet..was always on edge for hubby as he has had hip operations and one slip could mean his holiday over. To what we paid out it was sure a dissappointment and we now know we could get better for the money we forked out.. We will not be returning....Written March 25, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- PeterN.E.EnglandWolsingham, UK146 contributionsUnlike many UK farmers' markets this one does feature home producers who don't trick out their goods in fancy jars and labels. There's a large fruit and veg offer, a butcher where you can buy a whole kid goat, bread and bakery goods and three eateries.
One small stall sells a drinkable glass of red wine and pinchos for a €1 or you can upgrade that to a larger racion and small jug. The chicken was delicious. We went on two occasions and also ate in the small restaurant. Our plate of freshly sliced warm leg of pork with bread and a couple of beers was exactly what we wanted. There's another food outlet which was busy, it's more ad hoc and you'll need Spanish to get the best experience. They were selling wine with a variety of tapas.
If you want to pick up a local vibe I can recommend this for a Sunday morning visit.Written March 26, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BarbaraEdinburghEdinburgh77 contributionsWe are self catering in Puerto de la Cruz, so a farmer's market is the place for fresh fruit and veg. We had tried the one in Puerto, but it is more a set of greengrocer shops than a real farmer's market (though it is particularly worth a visit for the large car boot/market also there on a Saturday.)
The market in La Oratava is more to our liking. It is open from 8am till 1.30pm every Saturday. Each stall has the name of the Finca so you know (or locals do!) where the produce is grown. Some stall holders speak a little English, but it easy enough to get by even when they don't. The produce is labelled with the price, so you know how much things are.
Things are really fresh (leaves are unwilted in the heat, so just picked) and cheap. A lady sells great cakes such as carrot cake, cherry tart, chocolate cake, 80 cents a slice.
Sometimes there are musicians, and there is a friendly cafe outside, a white coffee is €1, they also do rolls and snacks.
You can park in the large car park just next door, or the bus stop back to Puerto is close by. The market is up the hill at the top of the town, and is well signposted.
You can walk down from the market to La Oratava to look round (there is an easy path down through some waste ground). There are some charming old houses and a really lovely park which is full of well tended flowers. Next to the park is an outpost of the Puerto Botanic Garden, smaller but free.Written April 24, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
