What travelers are saying
- Terry J4 contributionsPlatja de Talis the western end of Son Bou beach is a superb little nudist beach. Although it lacks facilities it it a great little beach to spend a day blissfully naked. Predominantly a nudist beach, it also attracts a proportion of non-nudists and topless
young Spanish women, who all co-exist very harmoniously to create a very relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
Platja de Talis attracts a wide range of age groups and nationalities, together with a mixed range of body types, from super-slim to plus-size; all displaying an equal degree of personal body confidence. I spent three days on Platja de Talis as a first-time nudist and felt completely at ease from the first moment, on my first day, that I got completely naked. Every day I felt really relaxed, nude, with my fellow nudists and equally comfortable, totally naked, with the beach's non-nudist users.
Staying in Santo Tomas, Platja de Talis was a comfortable twenty-minute walk from my hotel . I intend taking a longer stay in Santo Tomas early next summer and making the beach at Platja de Talis my main daytime destination.Written September 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You get dropped off at the car park and there is a nice cafe there. Beautiful but very busy beach. Slightly off putting smell as you enter the water (possibly from the weed?) But overall a nice afternoon. Walk back to the bus is uphill but nothing too difficult. Unfortunately all 4 of us got bitten on the walk back up so maybe take some insect repellant. It was the last day of our holiday and insect bites had not been a problem until then.Written August 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stuart MBath, UK82 contributionsThis is a lovely fun train ride on the roads of the harbour. Two carriages holding about 24 people each, €8 paid per person when embarking. Collected us by the tourist information at the harbour. Took us along the harbour front, past the restaurants and into the town in a broad circular route back to the pick up point where the second half took us from their to the left of the harbour and into the town that way. So a figure of eight route showing us places we'd not seen, with a commentary that was piped through the speakers in the roof and not too easy to hear. A great way to spend an hour.Written October 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Nora LMilton Keynes, UK18 contributionsA gem of a beach. It’s a bit of a trek so use appropriate footwear and there are no beach facilities so plenty of water . One of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever visited 🤩Written June 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brownie59 contributionsGo early! It gets packed, trust me, "Parking cala Binimel-La y cala".
After reading some great advice we got there early 08.00 at the car park name above and right by the start of the trail and only handful of cars. The trail to get there is rocky, so a kids buggy is a no no unless your going to carry them, but as there is no shade and trail is rocky I'd give it a miss its about 25min trek. Also, as I found at the time we arrived, the wife and I were engulfed in mossies OMG they were on a mission and 20 or more bites later each we managed to get to Cala Pregonda - Make sure you spray that's the best advice I can give you!!!.
Once at the beach, the mossies cleared up and wow what a beach and the snorkeling is fabulous with shoals of fish around you so take some bread to feed them from the beach or as you swim and even saw some small rays. The sea is crystal clear and warm and great for children who were able to walk there or non swimmers as it goes out gradually. The little rock pool areas are great as you can swim in them also.
There are no facilities at the beach, so go prepared, cream, water, umbrella as no shade but def worth a visit. After a few hours, the beach was rammed, but as we were there earlier, we had got to enjoy it and left when the hords were still coming.
On the trek back not a single mossie so must have been due to the early morning and being a bit cooler but when we got back to the car park wow cars parked as far as the eyes could see, and this road is very uneven and rocky, Gravel so drive carefully.Written September 8, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Kira8582Huddersfield, UK20 contributionsThis was our first trip to Menorca (or any of the Balearics) as we usually visit Greek islands so we were really surprised to find how crowded all the beaches are. Having read various reviews of this beach and others in the area we knew we’d need to get up early if we wanted to visit…. Not a problem as we are early risers anyway. We got to the carpark for 8am and other than some campervans / overnighters we were the first car there. We walked down a really clear path and had a blissful 30 mins with the whole beach to ourselves, before a steady stream of people arrived. We had a nice spot leaning against a rock on the right side of the beach, which is obviously where everyone else wanted to be as no one seemed to have any worries about laying their towel down less than a metre away from us, even though there were lots of bare sand still available!?
By 11:30 there was barely any space anywhere, the sea was busy too, we’d seen enough Instagram photoshoots and posing & couldn’t wait to escape. And this is mid Sept so God knows what it’s like in July or August.
A beautiful beach, sea was fabulous to swim in but go early if you want to enjoy it, even outside of main holiday season.Written September 19, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Love this place for what it is. A beautiful traditional white town. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - ExploreAndTravelMoreLondon, UK81 contributionsLovely, accessible and disabled friendly cove, but claustrophobic on this jam-packed, touristy beachA lovely beach that we visited on a day trip with our family. We specifically selected it for its accessibility - with a young family and pregnant wife, we wanted a beautiful cove but without the need to walk/hike from the car park to the beach itself.
The waters are crystal clear and shallow, making it a safe place for children and those who are less confident swimmers.
The beach itself is golden sand, but narrow, and a little over packed. This was the reason we gave 4 stars, as it felt claustrophobic and we were all pretty much sitting on top of each other. [N.B. pictures attached show beach at 10.30am and before it was fully busy]
PARKING AND ACCESSIBILITY
We got to the main car park (named 'parking Cala Mitjana' in Google maps) at 10am, which was a good time as it wasn't too busy, but was filling up fairly fast. Parking was free and we did have a 10 minute walk down the hill to the beach, but with a buggy we took a step free route and followed the road 'Travessia Cala Galdana' straight down, which took us down to the vehicle access ramp that joins the paved promenade at the back of the beach. This route would be accessible to both buggies and wheelchairs, but the initial part of the ramp is fairly steep.
We were able to walk along the promenade, selecting our preferred patch on the beach, and there was a disabled section that was fully accessible for those who are disabled or with limited mobility - there were designated sun beds, picnic benches and a range of mobility aids that allowed disabled patrons and their families to use the beach and the sea.
When leaving, and to avoid making the pregnant wife walk 10 minutes back up the hill, I collected her from the bottom, pulling in on the road side. This was easy to navigate and didn't cause any problems.
FACILITIES
In addition to the disabled facilities described above, the beach was fairly touristy and had all the facilities you could think of, including beach side restaurants and cafes, and gift shops. Across the bridge and on the other side of the river, there was also an excellent cafe 'Tobogan Cala Galdana' that had small waterslides for children, which were pay per go, plus a free small pool and slide for toddlers and min play park.Written August 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The water is warm, it’s not that deep (good for the lil ones) and there is a big area to swim and very clean. - Simon JManchester, UK235 contributionsSituated centrally on Menorca, El Toro is the island’s highest peak. It offers splendid panoramic views of the island and is a lovely location to visit. You can see for miles on a clear day, and undoubtedly the location will offer incredible views of a sunrise and sunset if you visit early or late enough.
There is a monastery based at El Toro, which is quaint and beautiful. A car park is at the summit, but I can imagine it getting full on a busy day. There are also cafe, shop and bathroom facilities at the site - though you do need to pay to use the WC.
The road to El Toro is winding and steep, and there are regularly walkers on the road who are hiking to the summit. If you drive to the summit be cautious, careful and vigilant.
It’s a definite must visit location for people in Menorca.Written October 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
