My husband and I are planning a trip to Basque Country in late August. As of now we are planning on staying in San Sebastian for four nights and I'm trying to determine where to stay the first 4 nights. We have been looking at coastal areas of the French Basque region (Biarritz, Saint-Jean-de-Luz) but are also interested in them small inland towns or open to other areas as well (note we are not looking to go to Bilbo). From SS, we were going to potentially do a day trip to the La Roija, and then possibly Getaria and the small coastal villages. We will have a car but are trying to limit our driving. Any recommendations on where to stay the first leg of the trip? I'm also thinking of extending our stay in SS for another night and possibly limiting the other location to 3 nights. Any insight into where to make our headquarters for the first 3-4 night would be appreciated! This will be our first time in the Basque Country!
Answer: San Sebastian is famous for its La Concha Beach, a very long beach and perhaps the most beautiful beach in Spain. It is best seen during summer when there is more sunshine and less rain.

Things to see:
1. La Concha Beach - Probably the most beautiful beach in Spain.
2. Old town (behind the Ayuntamiento Building) - Has many pintxo restaurants.
3. Miramar Palace - A historic palace with beautiful gardens.
4. San Telmo Museum - The main art museum in the city-
5. Cathedral of the Good Sheperd - A beautiful church downtown.
6. Monte Igueldo - The view of the city from the top of this mountain is wonderful.
7. Peine del Viento Sculpture - A beautiful sculpture at one end of the Ondarreta Beach.
8. Ondarreta Beach - A beautiful beach that is the continuation of the La Concha Beach.

A very good hotel beside the La Concha Beach is the Hotel Londres. Use Booking.com to look for other hotels or apartments.

The area behind the Ayuntamiento (City Hall) has many restaurants where one can try pintxos. Calle Fuenterrabia and Avenida de la Libertad are the main shopping streets.
